Lumber Rack Roof Rack

I bought a rack it lumber rack the other day and make the front of it into a roof rack because I need the extra storage and plan to be taking some longer trips in the next year or so. I am not really sure I like how far the front sticks out and am thinking about shortening it so that it lines up with about the windshield. What do you guys think?

If you leave the leading edge over the windshield, this can be used to 'shade' the glare from rack-mounted lighting. Also, makes a couple brush-guiding wires easier to connect away from the glass. Third, more overhead storage. I'd leave it...miss my Rack-It!
