ALMOST...ready to roll...

I put the wheel adaptors on, I had to cut the M416 studs back a little, not too much - and also had to cut back the adaptors studs for the RRC rims. So after a little bit of wheel cutting and lifting the tires - 265/75/R16 - she rolled out of the garage...Was a little cramped in there with her stable mate 1971 Series IIa.

Now I am waiting on the shipment from Sierra of my lights - and then I can put the tags on and she is ready to go!!!!!

Color match to the rover is another day....I have to order the rattle cans from Tower Paints. So this was the quickest way to get it out the door. The color matches (almost perfectly) the rim color on the Series wheels. I also have a 1963 109" in the same color...so hence this color as it is today.

Great build!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad I could help. You are right, those square bolts are not to be found. I found a place to make them for me pretty cheap so I ordered 2 sets. The grease bolts are out there but hard to find. Adapters look good. Thank god I have a CJ so I skipped that part.

Keep the pictures coming.

Tailgate?..

So with the SOA the tub is quite high...it doesn't really show in photos, nor in anyone else's build do they mention it. But crap, this thing is high off the ground...so I need to put a tailgate on it. I have seen a few options on others build threads, and I realize it is "deforming" an antique but, hey this is why I bought a junkyard destined trailer. So anyone have some pictures of what works well?

There are a number of good tailgate builds on here and I would look for those. Also I would call Chris @ Sierra 4x4 and ask him how he does his. He is always glad to help although he will probably tell you not to cut an M416!!!!!!!!!

I have had the same dilemna for the last 2 years.

The utility of one's trailer is only fully understood by those who use it. I found the M416 a good platform from which to build, not as a restoration/preservation project. My build story is more of a saga, an attempt at humor, found in my sig. Part of the story is the tailgate. Simple piano hinge, some flat 1" steel, and some 1" square tube plus some odds and ends and a friendly welder.

lights

The lights from Sierra arrived yesterday, so I spent the afternoon wiring the trailer up...my first try at all of it, so I will be interested to see it work!! Kinda expect the lights to flash when you put the brake on, and the indicators to stay on all the time...everything for me is always upside down and backwards :) - guess it is because I am from Australia!!!!! :ylsmoke:

I bought the "dot" lights - two Amber, up front and two red in the rear, all mounted to the frame.
The rear LED's I mounted to the frame also

I still have to mount and wire the license plate light - and the license plate as well. I am thinking I should just rivet it to the mudguard, and mount the light above it....oh well options options....will wait and see.
