Making an offroad pop-up: what to look for in a donor?

I want to build a cheapish off-road pop-up.

There are a bunch of decent pop-ups locally for $1000 or less and I want to take one and put a better frame under it and put bigger wheels/tires/axle.

So my question is, what should I look for in a donor pop-up? I was thinking of an 80s coleman as my view is that the smaller it is, the better. I really just want this thing to be dirt road capable, I don't need something that is truly offroadable.

I know I just found a late 80's eight foot coleman that is in good shape. Looks promising because it is only 6' 2", and I think keeping the width down is important. I'm thinking about it just to build and compare it to mind. If nothing else, I may rob it of it's good stuff and use it on my current trailer build.

Look for something with a back door. If you have to cut the wheel wells out it would be a whole lot easer without having to relocate/modify the door.
