Eric, what did you do in the end? I expect the same issues as you on the foam pad? We are similar in size and comfort issues while sleeping. My AT won't come with a Overland tent but rather an Eezi-Awn Series 3, 1800. I expect the foam pads would be similar in design and comfort.

I ended up going with a $50 Colman Queen air mattress. So far it has worked out great, Fast to inflate, It virtually disappears when deflated, so it is easy to fold the tent. Being by my self, the Queen size was over kill, If I had it to do again I would have gotten a twin so I had a stable surface for indoor storage when In camp. One really nice thing is I could use my sheets from home on the air mattress, so it is a very nice home like atmosphere when going to bed.

I recently did the same thing for camping with the wife and bought the Coleman queen size inflatable. I have a small 400 watt inverter and bought the 120v HVLP air compressor and it was inflated in about 75 seconds. Very comfortable and takes no space at all when deflated. My dog even likes it.

Out in the Jeep by myself it's a Therm-A-Rest Base Camp.....by far my favorite way to sleep on the ground..
