Melvill and Moon Seat Covers

Hello. I thought I'd post some pics of my Melvill & Moon seat covers. I've had them a couple of years now and have to say that they must be the best available for LR's. Made in South Africa. I couldn't find a dealer here in the U.S., so I imported them through Brookwells in the UK. They are expensive, but if you like the best quality in your accessories, they are more than worth the price. There are some more pics in my Custom Rubber Flooring post.

Nice! I have been wanting a set for a while, and will be getting a set this fall for sure. The are now resold in the UK by Exmoore Trim and available through Rovers North, which has become a reseller in the US for Exmoore Trim. I checked on availability of a set for my 110 about a month ago, and Rovers North had the front seat covers in stock!

LROTV actually has a seat cover shootout using M&M seat covers on youtube.

The quality is like getting new upholstery for your seats. Lots of useful pockets all over. Nice detailing throughout. Even comes with a canvas carry bag and key fob. Here are some more pics.

Oh, Great. You just confirmed that they do offer these for the old "grab back" style seats of a DI. I have a 95 5 speed and want a set of these for it.

I have just pulled a set of leather skins off of a 89 classic range rover to send over to have a set made for my 89 Classic.

Those are nice!!

Thanks
Dendy

So, you are going to send the factory skins over to Melvill and Moon to have them make a set, or somewhere else? I have a 92 RRC, but unfortunately M&M doesn't seem to make covers for the older RR any more.

Yes, I am planning on sending the factory skins over as a pattern to have M&M's made for my 89.
I have been trying to get them made for a year, and they have not been able to get ahold of a classic to make patterns. I had a friend that had a 89 that was going to the crusher, and I pulled the leathers off of it.

I'll keep you posted here.

Thanks

Maybe we can get two sets made at the same time, or even more if others want some.

I have sent a link to this thread to Dael Melvin.
Let's see what he says!

Great. Need to make sure that all the RRC seats are the same though. I know there are some differences in details between the Base, County and Hunter, but I think the basic shape of the seats is the same. Any thoughts on this?

You guys aren't talking about having them make *actual* reskins for the factory seats are you? I'd be interested in an actual reskin, but I don't like the look of covers too much myself. They look like... covers. Very nice covers, but still covers.

I don't really see the point in me covering the already wearing factory leather seats.

I read you, but there are a few advantages besides covering worn seats:

1.) Better in hot, sweaty conditions than the leather.

2.) Completely waterproof canvas keeps the seats dry.

3.) You can remove them and wash them when they get dirty.

4.) Extremely durable material takes punishment instead of the leather.

These are also like the ones I pulled to send to M&M.

Those look like they're worth protecting. Mine, not so much. I wish I could get them clean, but there's so much grunge stuck in the minute cracks in the leather.

To David's Point:

My seats are showing little if any wear. I think the Canvas is more authentic an expedition cover than the OEM waterproof covers.

If you have ever sat on or been in a truck with Melvin and Moons, ... you'd understand. (I have)

These are the real deal safari/expedition covers. There is a video somewhere on YouTube where a Land Rover magazine takes a belt sander to these things and it takes for ever to wear through them.
