Ive given up hope finding a limited close to me(kansas), so I started looking in a 6hr radius of me. This one has no timing belt or maintenance history as its at a small dealership. It was aquired at auction. Im waiting on more pics and a vin or carfax. I cant believe how far of a spread their is on pricing with 01-03's. Ive seen low 4k to 7k. Unfortunately, I dont have many close to me. Anyone else seeing this pricing trend?

Funny, I was doing this exact search a couple of weeks ago and had the same experience with pricing. If they're average or worse the price goes down quick. But if it's low mileage and clean and straight, the price skyrockets. Same goes for Troopers and other lesser known rigs.

I'm in Lawrence and search CL in Lawrence, KC, St. Joe, Topeka, Manhattan, Salina, Wichita, Omaha, OK City, Stillwater, Tulsa, Dallas, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Ft. Worth, Mid Cities, North DFW and South DFW. I use Craigslist Pro on my phone to search all at once. There's some duplication, but I don't also miss stuff. And be creative with your search terms and combos. Sometimes rigs are listed as "Mitsubishi," "Mitsu," "Montero" only, "Limited" only, "Lmt.," etc. Doing multiple searches using individual terms might work better than one search using only "Mitsubishi Montero." (Can you tell I'm a librarian?)

Because of how few Monteros are out there for sale you may want to consider searching the entire U.S. and having it put on a transporter and brought to you. I live in Wichita, KS, but when I found my 02 with 63k miles it was in Virginia. But with enough high resolution pics of the underside, the promise that every feature was functioning properly, and clean history reports, I was comfortable enough to buy it over the phone. Negotiated the price to include shipping, the selling dealer listed it on U-ship and in about a week it showed up in an enclosed trailer pulled by an F-150. They were asking $7995 for the Monty and I got it delivered for $8500.

Haha, didnt know other kansans were here! I have found that I get to the part that I ask for detailed pics because im from out of town and the seller usually loses interest in dealing with me. I guess they dont want to do alittle extra work to sell a vehicle.
