montero sport 4x4 conversion questions

my dad has a 2wd 2002 sport 3.5L with 106k on it, leather and super clean. he has offered it to me for $2000 cash. if it was a 4wd it would already be sitting in my driveway.

if i bought a flooded sport locally (should be plenty due to hurricane) that was 4wd, could all the 4wd parts be swapped? is it worth the trouble? im no expert mechanic but i have built up a 4runner and cherokee in the past.

or should i buy it and flip it. ive seen clean examples sell in houston area for $3300 to $4000

or should i say "thanks pop" and pass on it? what im afraid will happen if i do buy it is that i will be stuck with if for the next 10 years. life has a way of changing the best laid plans.

any wisdom is appreciated.

Not even remotely worth the effort. The frames are different, for starters. These things are so cheap, there's just no point.
