I've been quietly following along. Call me impatient but I can't wait to see the finished product :)

Me too, haha! The VK56DE is a very hard engine to swap and always requires a hardcore Nissanist, or Nissamaniac! It's like 40% fail to complete the project and 90% are race/sport oriented, meaning no A/C. This is a daily driver, though I got another corolla and used to have an Infiniti M45 2007 that I sold last year, so this needs a HUGE custom wiring work. Many carburetor it to make it easier which is not what I want. Some work might include heads and others but looking for N/A tuning.

This should make me happy, even with an empty pocket! Then will register the new engine at police as the main department of the region is only 2 km away!

Nice choice on the engine. Definitely going to make a new truck out of this older Patrol. I want video with no music just engine sounds when it is done, please. :)

Videos are always a MUST for V8 swaps, we just love that roar :). It's a 6200$ swap, which is very cheap compared to what's common. It's usually 9500$, close to the price of an LS7 7.0L V8 swap to the Nissan Patrol!

This is a SWB Patrol with VK56 in Saudi Arabia:

I have a vid of it doing a 2-wheel launching jump on my phone! Might send it through whatsapp if someone interested, it's a short one though.

I just read through this entire thread, the pictures are outstanding!! I have not been a fan of most Mavericks or y60's because they look very boxy and plain to me but I am a big fan of what you have done with yours. It is unique and with this new heart it will be a whole different beast. Well done. I will be interested to see the result of the swap.

Thanks man! I hope everything goes right with the swap and sure will show it when done!

Glad you liked the thread and hope the best for you :)

Couldn't afford the Armada's engine with only 2000$ so will use my cousin's Titan engine again. The engine is being pulled again from his Nissan Titan and will be mounted in my Patrol with a fabricated sensor in Patrol's trans housing. Paid about 1000$ for the tuner and gave us February 25th to ship it for the custom harness and Haltech ECU.

Will customize the exhaust system and might order a muffler with a switch to silence it when police around for about 390$. My cousin is doing all the mounts and mechanical work then the electric/ECU work will be co-operative with his friend in the north.

Will show some pics of the engine ones mounted :)

After putting the Vk56DE 5.6L V8 engine inside the Patrol's bay they figured that the crank reaches the front diff with the mounts. It's about 7 inches taller and 5 inches wider than the TB42E 4.2L I-6. They suggested to mount it higher and "puff" the hood (bonnet) to make a room for the intake. Well, that sounds even cooler to me!

If a buddy of yours gets his truck stuck in the mud, don't pull on the strap too hard. I fear you may rip his truck in half.

The problem is the rope/strap always gets cut in the first place :Wow1:. Thinking of something tough like a boat rope, seriously :sombrero:.

One guy with a new land cruiser 45, known as LC70 in Australia, got his rear part of the chassis broken from harsh pulling! I just fix/hardened mine, though never embarrassed me before:smiley_drive:. Sand always makes the stuck car heavier than in mud, especially beach sand.

Good point!

Sand is a menace. There's a sandy area on the side of a river near my house that is legal to drive on. I can't even count the number of people I've dragged out of there.

That's the spirit of a Nissan driver, always the savior *_^. Small parts of the beach here is illegal to drive though you'll encounter many passing by and sometimes police checkpoints! But most of the beach is legal to drive on. Just deflate to 15-5 psi and show them the magic! I've even tried pulling one guy on 50 psi, lots of pressure on the engine and sometimes you might just dig enough to hang on your diffs!

Engine oil sump hits the front differential case, so we decided to customize it and use an oil cooler. That would improve engine oil leveling too at high rpm.

M-Spec? Is that from a Skyline GT-R M-Spec?
