my Conqueror conquest arrived :)

my Conqueror conquest and FJ :)

Aloha all

been lurking here a bit and reading a ton and loving this place

I moved to the mainland a bit ago from the islands and want to get into some more extended and backroads etc... camping since I am here on this huge chunk of land :)

but I did not want to load up the car so full of stuff and be comfortable and have the wife and kids comfy also

so my hunt for the trailer started
wife and 1 kid with another coming the end of the year I wanted it to hold the family
Small enough for garage and easy towing in tight areas (had to be narrower than my rig)
a RTT that was king size
the RTT had to have a room off it for changing letting kids nap in a cot etc..
wanted a large awning for daily living under the sun
wanted to get into rig without tilting the top to access stuff
had to be large enough storage to bring some comfort stuff
tough enough to go offroad and hold up without a ton of maintenance

started looking at the stuff from OZ and SA (South Africa) and fell in love with so many designs
almost all of the stuff they have is very cool and well thought out and tough !! but trying to get the stuff in the US or find them here converted is not easy so kinda moved on with the thought if a unit that I wanted ever came up I would go for it :)

then the thread came up with the basecamp trailers and got ahold of the guy who was selling them and they had the conqueror :) which was funny as it was the one trailer I first fell in love with and wanted to find in the US so I was stoked to pick one up for a great price ;) and fits everything I wanted in a trailer at this point :)

My reasons I wanted this one and so stoked I got it
Mega used to make military trailers and the stuff is proven the SA also think they make some of the toughest trailers they also have a proven track record etc..
even the OZ import mega stuff and that says something !

anyway just sharing my thoughts and as I move forward doing a few things with this will post up some pics etc..

going to make a slide for the side to hold the stove and wash bin etc..
and just a few custom things inside
also the large 22 foot octagon awning it has (not up in the pics) is going to get walls all around it in panels so I can put up what I want

so here it is in our drive about a hour after it came off the truck :) had to pop it up to check it out

also a super cool video I found of the trailers in action in SA
the smaller one they show in this vid the guy has like 10 or so left and for about $8000 or under they are hard to beat for the price
if anyone is curious PM me I can give you the guys email

Sweet that was one of the first ones I wanted too when I first started doing the same SA/AU trailer searches. Looks like a great set up. Get that puppy out there and post up some camp pics. :victory:

Great trailer.
Looking at the first video, does the tongue lifty thingy look really close to the spare tire of the land rover? Right at the 9 second mark.

thanks Tombkeeper

Valerie yeah it looks kinda close :) but also looks like the way the trailer is mounted its way tucked in and its in the center position ? guess it did a long trip this way in other shots does not look as close but mine is quite far away :)

Tucson :) yours was the rig that made me want to get a king and when I was looking close I was going to call you to try to check it out ;)
decided to keep the budget at 10k - 15k though
plus we wanted the king size bed :) but I tell ya that KingKamper is on my next list when the kids get bigger
or maybe just move to OZ and get one of those super cool caravan types ;)

I also am going to use some of the pics you have posted (hope you dont mind) in the past of your canvas all deployed and try to find a good canvas guy here to make some side walls :) not sure if you know any canvas guys between their and Phoenix where I am at now ?
but really love the idea of nice room to block things off if needed :)

now to get some more camp area info to get to some nice remote spots here in AZ or within a days drive :)

Thanks for posting up the video. I was just offered a Conqueror Conquest trailer at a good price. Thats the way I have always thought the suspension on a trailer should work.

Feel free to use any pictures you want. Happy to share. :D Even though you bought the Conqueror, your still welcome to check out my KK anytime. Either swing by my place in Tucson or we can plan a camping trip to set them up side by side.

I'm taking my dog on her first camping trip to Mt Graham this coming weekend. PM me if you want to come play with us.

Honu:
Great speaking with you tonight. I am loving my new Conqueror Conquest as well. (picked up last week)
I hope to post some pics of it as well soon.

As for folks considering these units, ... the Conquests are no longer available in the states as there were only 4 of them to begin with. Jurassic (the distributor) has sold them all.
The Compact is the same trailer less two feet of length (and the extra storage doors), but is a great trailer for the money.
The Base Camp is the drool factor trailer and the "sexy" model to look at. Just a different set up than the Compact.
Both great trailers, and at the price, ... can't beat them!
Thanks,
Dendy

ps: while the factory website is very cool to look at, ... it would cost a fortune with the dollar being so low right now to import one. To see what models are available in the states, ... go to: http://www.conquerorcampers.com/
