My Disco II Thread

Considering you don't have roof lights a hood blackout isn't really functional anyways

The idea of the hood blackout wasn't originally for roof mounted/ rack mounted lights anyway. It cuts the glare of setting/rising sun or any other bright lights.
I always just use a little more tape and make the corners gradual (or striping tape). IIRC, they make a stencil for the Disco hoods...

Use electric tape for smooth, rounded corners. Use a roll of tape that is a contrasting color of your truck to make it easier to see the line(s) you're laying down. I've done my hood 3x over the years with rattle can paint. First time was with blue painters tape. It worked ok, but had to use a lot of little pieces around the corners. A friend recommended electric tape and it works perfectly. In fact, you can use one continuous piece all the way around the hood. Then use the painters tape and newspaper or paper grocery bags to mask off the rest of the hood. Throw an old sheet over the windshield and shut the doors on the ends to hold it in place. You'll also want to mask the windshield washers, or unclip them from under the hood. You don't want them getting clogged with overspray.

Hi... Love the truck... I'm about to tear my 4.6l down and do a full rebuild and would love to do a stroke setup like yours on it. Would you be willing to provide a little more info on what it took to build it? Part numbers, machine work, etc... Thank you

Unfortunately I cannot help you with that as I had nothing to do with the rebuild. Check out Toddco LLC. I believe they have a 5.0L kit of some sort
