My first Moab experience

Well I finally got around to posting some pictures of my amazing spring break trip to Moab. It was one of the greatest adventures of my life. 6 days, 3 best friends, 3 dirtbikes, 1 suburban, and no schedule. That had adventure written all over it from the beginning.
This was my first experence with Moab and i have o admit i was blown away to say the least. Slickrock is amazing, the way it forms, the way it rolls, the way it sticks! The scenery was breathtaking and although it was cloudy most of the days we were there, the slight bit of rain kept the dust down and kept us cool all week long. We rode over 200+ miles on our dirtbikes and managed to enjoy many of the trademark Moab trails like fins and things, slickrock, kane creek, some of pritchett canyon, klondike bluffs, sovereign trail, baby steps, copper ridge road, and parts of hells revenge and porcupine rim.

Here is our first stop in Grand Junction, CO. We camped in the Grand valley OHV area and had tons of riding (i read it was 17 sq. miles online).

The setup, not too shabby. It was my buddies dad's 'Burban, my other buddies trailer and our 3 matching XR's. We took out the far back seat because we had so much gear, but man that thing is comfy.

Some scenery as we pulled into Moab, we took I-25 to Hwy 128 instead of Hwy 191 because we heard it was more scenic. Im not sure what 191 is like but 128 is rather pretty.

Heres camp. We stayed in the Sand Flats OHV area, reasonable camp fees, nice sites and good location to fins and things, slickrock trail, porcupine rim and hells revenge.

Before our first ride, day 1 in Moab. Im the goon on the left.Thank god for self timers or i wouldnt have been in any pictures.

And my first experience with slickrock; Baby lions back. That stuff is crazy, it grips like nothing ive ever ridden before. Just be sure to steer clear of the spots where the Heeps have dripped oil, it gets slippery quick. But man you sure can chew up tires on it, im looking into a new rear tire now.

A pic from my favorite trail, Kane creek. Im not sure how many water crossing there are, ive heard anywhere from 52 to 88. Regardless, its just plain fun, and a good one to do on a warm day when you dont mind gettin a little wet.

This trip was one of my most amazing times of my life. The fact that i got to spend 6 days with my 2 buddies doing the things we love most was a great way to spend my spring break. We missed out on Havasu and Vegas and Cancun but this was so much better.....and cheaper. When it was all said and done we snuck by with gas, food, camp fees and misc souvenirs for a hair under $400. We'll be back next year, maybe with a Tacoma or two.

Awesome! Kane Creek looks like a lotta fun. How far up Pritchett did you guys go...and did you enter from the campground or from Pritchett Arch?

Im not entirely sure how far we got but from what people told us we made it about 3/4 of the way through. That trail was extremely difficult but would be fun to watch some rigs crawl through. Im not sure where we entered, it was up kane springs road and on the left there was an opening with a little pay area and campsites. very fun.

I love Moab. I had the opportunity to go there last summer, and it is simply amazing.

You heard they closed Lion's Back, right? Some developer bought up the land that Lion's Back is on and closed it off to vehicles, and is going to be putting in a bunch of high-end houses there with Lion's Back as the "Scenic Attraction." Lame...:littlefriend:

yeah, i heard about the closure, its really too bad. Lions back was awesome, baby lions back doesnt really compare but its good to give newbies (like i was) a feel for slickrock and how steep you can ride without any wheelspin.
