I always wanted to do the same thing but with an old retired hummer ambulance. Its not a jeep, but in the back of those things there is plenty of room, about as much room as any truck camper.

Don't forget it has A/C for the rear

M725 update

I can't believe I had this this for three years now, no what i can't believe is how little work has been done in that time. I drove it only once in three years, the short drive was not bad everything seemed to work the suspension was really stiff and it pulled to the right when braking. Instead of just replacing leaky wheel cylinders I parked it and started gathering parts for an axle swap.

Of course if you swap the axles you must make all the related upgrades at the same time ( 4 wheel disc, lockers, hydroboost, power steering.....). Maybe I should have just bought a 70 or 80 series LandCruiser and called it a day. Naw, I wanted a Project, something different, something that I could build in stages into something I would be proud of. So it is taking a little longer than expected.

As it stands I'm a couple days away from getting it back on the road. I just finished putting in the new brake lines and bleeding the hydro boost mc and now fabbing an upper bracket for the power steering pump to fit the original Tornado 230 motor. I hope to keep the original motor running long enough to get it painted and gather all the parts needed to install the Cummins 6bt sitting in my garage.

Of course I had gotten a little side tracked shopping Craigslist and bought a few things that i could have waited to buy later; like the Heco pop top. It is in great shape and would work great on my M725 but I think it is a little heavier than I thought ( maybe 120-150lb) I might go with a Westfalia pop top from a mid eighties Vanagon instead.

I also imported 10 Seitz - Dometic windows. I will use 2 or 3 of them on the M725 and sell the rest, more on that later.
Well that's it for now,

Cheers
