My K5 Blazer and M1101 buildup and adventure

been a long time lurker on this website but haven't really posted much, but wanted to introduce myself and my projects. I have been building my 87 K5 Blazer up to be a fully reliable on and off road rig for the past couple years. I have had the truck since high school, but it fell into disrepair and took a lot of work to get it to where it is now.

LQ9 engine from a 2005 Escalade, one ton axles from a CUCV, full cage, bumpers, electrical and drivetrain also. Dual batteries and isolator combiner from Hell Roaring. The list goes on and on.

I wanted to make a truck that I could drive out to Moab and do hells revenge and drive home, or drive down to Baja and live out of for a week. Reliability, redundancy, simplicity and safety were top concerns. I felt I could have the best of both worlds and make a truck that could just as easily complete the Rubicon as it could drive 10 hours on the freeway.

I knew a trailer was in the works and that became readily apparent when my 3 kids, my wife and I went down to Gonzaga Bay for Spring Break. We were so packed and loaded down that it became restrictive. Enter the M1101 A3 trailer. I wanted to get one of these for all the obvious reasons, and the price was right for the one I just picked up. Stay tuned as I build a telescoping rack, add a roof top tent and outfit the bed.

I have a youtube channel that currently has been focused on the buildup of the K5. As that winds down I will start documenting the buildup of the trailer and videos on our travels up and down the West coast and beyond. I hope you enjoy!

Cheers

Absolutely awesome! I bet those kids (who are too cute for words) love riding in the Blazer with the sides rolled up! I look forward to seeing this trailer develop.

As you know I picked up this trailer recently and have been getting it dialed in. Plan is to have the bed accessible for all the camping stuff, and have the top rack established for a roof top tent.

So far, I have painted it flat black and swapped my 38 inch KM2's onto some wagon wheels and saved about 100 pounds in rotating weight over the Military Runflats!

My plan is to make a rack that extends and retracts. Biggest issue will be getting the legs plumb so that they don't bind when going up or coming down.

Any way pics

Ill have to look at the brand, as I can't remember but it is a semi flat and the orange is VHT (very high temp) with some ceramics in it that I have used all over my truck and it has been super durable

Looks good! I almost went with the UPol liner my self. How much did it take to spray your trailer?

I did the liner myself. Uploading a video to my youtube channel right now. It was actually pretty easy and I am impressed by how it came out. It took all four to do it, and I ordered another four as I want a thicker coat and I think I am gonna do my bumpers, and rocksliders with it too.
