Very nice. I like the way you think.

I went with a 7 x 7 deck on mine as a Poor Mans roof top tent.

This is nearly exactly what I plan to do with my trailer. What are you using for the support legs, and also for the stabilizers?

The bunk support legs are 1/2" rigid water pipe. I made screw jacks out of them by welding a washer and hex nut to the end then inserted a 1/2" threaded rod. The stabilizer legs are again rigid pipe 1.5" with 3/4" threaded rod for adjustment. The attachment bracket is a piece of 2" square tubing. 90% of this is all junk pile material re-purposed. I'll try to get some shots up later today.

Okay...detail shots of the bunk support jack and bracket.IMAG0004.jpgIMAG0007.jpgIMAG0006.jpgIMAG0007.jpg The rods are built from 1/2" water pipe with angle iron brackets attached. Then 1/2" threaded rod makes up the extension with washers and nuts welded in place. The bottom is designed so that it stays put while being adjusted...a "stinger" .

IMAG0009.jpgThe trailer jacks are again water pipe - 1.5" with 3/4" threaded rod for adjustment. They are built to retract during transport and also feet are incorporated so they don't sink up in the ground.IMAG0003.jpgIMAG0001.jpgIMAG0002.jpg

Wish me luck guys...this weekend is the first outing. Taking my youth group and a few adults for a weekend in the Great Smoky Mts. After all this work, I finally get to see f all of this "barnyard" engineering will actually work.

IMGP0210.jpgIMGP0211.jpgFirst trip to the woods was GREAT! Found out what works, what needs tweaking, and what needs to be scrapped. Pushed the trailer past the rocks into a "tents only" area and not a word from the local Rangers, so I guess the trailer does indeed qualify as a base for my tent and NOT an RV. Spent the night with my family and 4 others that I love, followed by my congregation gathering at the camp site for worship Sunday Morning. No sleep, too much food, great time had by all. Can't wait to get the changes made and head back to the mountains. If you are thinking about building a rig... do it now, don't wait. There are too many things out there to miss.

Amen! Glad everything worked out well for you with your trailer and for your congregation with the trip. Please keep us updated with any new modifications you make (with pictures!).

20130927_205556.jpgTongue removed and ready for extension. Someone told me all along it was too short and should be extended, but I don't listen very well.
