You don't need to drain the diff just pull the axles and the bearing retainer comes out the same as the fronts with the same tool. I would replace the seal.

Do I need a specialized tool for that or can I get away with a gear puller?

You could do a "half and half". Buy a second hand hub from Busbees then put new studs into that. Surely that would work out quite a bit cheaper and still give you what you want.

Busbees does not have the part...

You could, there's not much torque involved. Fuso wants you to measure the tangential force on the bearing with a spring but i can't imagine that any one does.

Thanks I have a pretty proven method for field torquing wheel bearings (as taught by Bill Burke). :)
