Find a used old 4.0 bosch v8 and then have it rebuilt into a 4.6.

Forget the Bosch ones. They're mostly getting ready to blow up as we speak. Convert a GEMS block over instead by swapping all the Bosch parts over to it. Or, do the top-hat liner route for the ultimate reliability. . .

Been gone a while waiting on funds and my new Top Hat Motor from Cannibal V8. It finally arrived yesterday to The Shop after a month of being on hold due to Tornado's that tore up OK and Ok City. She got partially installed this morning, and hopefully will be ready for action later this week or next. I added the performance Cam and had the exhaust manifolds Ceramic coated. Added a new water pump and 180 degree thermostat for the heat factor here in the southeast. All the seals and gaskets are also new. I decided to upgrade the brakes with new EBC rotors and Akebono Ceramic pads since it is not very good at stopping with the larger tires. I also added some diff guards, fixed a worned out rubber gasket on the rear lamp/license plate bracket and a few other minor things. I will be heading to the N Georgia and N Carolina Mountains in a couple of weeks to air it out. This has been a long project that started last Nov 2012. I am hoping to enjoy this damn truck now. :Wow1:

Cannibal V8 motor in p/u trek today..all I can is wow what a different truck...more torque...finalizing heat cycling and seating brake pads. This thing is really sweet now...it ought to be. Waiting on my ax and shovel holder. Installing the seat covers and heading to NC mountains for a while.....:)

I did a oil change to Valvaline conventional VR1 Racing oil yesterday for added zinc per Cannibals recommendation. The more I run the motor the better is getting same with the new brakes...this thing is awesome now. I am a happy camper..

Dale I decided to buy a new set of fender extensions .The original are simply just too worn for my taste even refurbed .... wonder how hard it will be to remove the other ones w/o tearing up the decals under them?

FYI - my new Combo Ax/Shovel mount arrived today! DiamondRax has a sweet lockable AX/Shovel Mount that fits a Safety Device Roof rack perfectly and securely. They also have a HiLift Jack mount as well. After looking at these for months finally one that is a quality made product fits my Fisker Ax and shovel perfectly

Hey David- typically not a problem, but we are usually taking off several year old graphics, so this may be a bit dicey. You can always 'edge' the flare with a razor to cut the stripe- remember the flare is toast anyway, so cut the edge of the flare to ensure coverage by the new ones. I felt the orig flares could go either way and was hoping the referb would do the trick. I guess those dollars are almost insignificant after the engine issues though...
I have to run down to Clemson Sunday- you up this way this w/e? Would love to see the new beast inside ;-)

yea at first the extensions were not a big deal...now I think it is just a drop in the bucket at this point....and the rest of the trek looks almost new so WTH, thanks so much Dale. I am leaving for Highlands today returning to Cumming on Sunday. Will you be in the Highlands Cashiers area? Do you have any plans to be in Atlanta area in the next few weeks? I may hold off on this fender ext project til the Master shows up :wings:

on another note I had this young guy come up to my Trek the other day and start taking pics - he was really interested and let me know his dad was one of the Camel Trophy Drivers etc 20-30years ago...with the last name Hickman. They both live in Atlanta. I thought that was pretty neat.

Hey David- I will be in Clemson Sunday- would be great if we could chat for a few minutes, look at the decals and flares- and of course hear the monster within. Got your call, just been crazy here- let me know if Sunday is possible, noonish??
Very cool about the CT son, though not familiar with him, sorry.
