National Rally

For any of you looking for an alternative to all the driving you should check out Moab Desert Adventures for some climbing or canyon trips. Their guides are hands down the best for desert climbing and finding that perfect slot. You don't need to be an expert by any means and it opens up the whole Moab areas potential exponentially.

Yeah, no problem, we've had Jeeps along before too. Of course you will probably have to put up with a little bit of razzing (and a little more from a few twerps), but it is lots of fun. Hey we've even shown up in my Ford station wagon when we were between trucks, and were welcomed into passenger seats for the day. (Just make sure you get a spot soon, I'm not sure what the limit is going to be this year.)

Providing the new truck lands in the US safely I will be driving out. Leaving on the 10th following a Series truck taking all backroads and no highways from the East Coast. Should be a long slow enjoyable trip. (I hope) :smiley_drive:

We are planning on leaving the Monterey Bay area on the evening of the fifth and with luck should be camping in the Pink Coral Sand Dunes Utah State park on the evening of the sixth. The hard part will be making it from there to Moab by late afternoon of the sixteenth. Lot of trails, parks and national monuments to cover between the two locations.

I appears that we are down to 2 Dormobiles as the owner of Dormobile #3 has a movie shoot scheduled for most of September :(

Ten days to make it from coral pink to moab...wow...those rovers are slower than I thought!

All this has me thinking I might have some time....

(and for the razzing...I'll just bring a towstrap....:hehe: )

Are you guys all registered? Please do soon at the request of the Prez of the Solihull Society. Mostly so they can plan.

There I've done my Club duty....

It is a very long way between Coral Pink Dunes and Moab. Here is our intended route:

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park,
Zion,
Red Rock Canyon National Monument
A restaurant in St. George for a catfish dinner
Bryce
Kodachrome State park
Grosvenor arch
Cockscomb area
About 4 or 5 hours in Page, Az,
Monument Valley
Valley of the Gods
Mormon trail of 1880
western trail going North along Comb Ridge
Beef Basin
Lockheart basin (if we have time)
Moab

If we had another 5 days to make it to Moab we would come in through the maze in Canyonlands.

Its just a looong way between the Coral Pink dunes & Moab.

Don't worry, I'm bringing a tow strap in case you need one.

REVOR - I'm representing British Pacific at the rally so my entry is covered as part of the sponsor package (or at least the web site says it is).

Everyone - If you purchase something from British Pacific and want it delivered to the Rally just ask when you make the order. We would be happy to bring it along with no shipping cost (as long as we can lift it into the truck and it fits inside). There may be a trailer rental charge if it is something like a rebuilt engine.

TeriAnn...

That is going to be a fun 10 days! Well worth the time. I've done many of the routes in that itinerary!

I'd be honored to be unstuck by that amazing dormobile, BTW!

Teriann:

I have been trying to come up with things that I want to see on this trip, but you are doing such a good job that I dont think I need to bother!

Hltoppr: if you are really stuck you could get pulled out by two dormobiles.

List to do before trip includes putting on the other front jerry can. Also, have to have a bit of welding done on an outrigger, finish the roof rack a little bit and a few other fiddly things. Almost ready to go!

Graham, did you get the M8 yet? If not, I think you need one to capture the magical moments we'll have in Moab.
