Neat tent idea

I was searching a web site of a local Land Rover club and found pictures of a very interesting tent.
I thought I would post this here and see if any Land Rover owners on the portal has seen one of these. I'm currently driving a Jeep YJ but, I think this idea could be used for my type of truck.

From what I understand, talking to a member of that club, that tent set-up was designed and built by the owner of that LR. So it's one of a kind.
Nice job of it!

Kind regards, Josh

Explains why I coudn't find any info on the net.
I live in the samer area so maybe I can hook up with him some day and check this tent out.

Interesting idea. And whats the rover in the background? Is that a custom tent as well?

If I recall correctly what I was told, yes, the tent in the background is custom as well-- using a LR roof as the pop-up.
A lot of talent in this club apparently.

Kind regards, Josh

Sorry about the Jeep, but nothing keeping you from being involved. They did a trip to Whipsaw (?) this weekend and several Jeeps, Unimogs were in attendence alongside the LRs.

Kind regards, Josh

That first one (the one the thread was started over) looks pretty cool for a single guy kind of fair... I really like how the droor extends and is still usable with the tent deployed. Cool find and one cool looking 90 to boot eh. What I'm really jealous of the Defender's over is the top and rear door. There's SO much room in them, and that rear door makes for some great access.

Cheers

i'm still thrilled that my mountainsmith tent fits perfectly on the sd rack

I haven't built a roof rack yet for the YJ but, when I do maybe I should make it to fit my current tent.

Interesting idea, I'd love to see it done.

this is a great thread

I really like the Nissan idea too but with a more (seemingly) durable tent

I like the Howlingmoon tents a lot - the dome and frame tents look very tough and have separate sleeping compartments for those of us here with family and pets

http://www.howlingmoon.co.za/

they have a good "station" and extra room just in case. If you added a sleeve to hook up to any vehicles rear entrance it would be like the Nissan only nicer

I think RTT are fantastic, for two people. But they take up an awful lot of room and for 2K$ you could save the room up top, have a HM tent, some cots, a stove, a table, and more for the price of the RTT and space

if I had a D110 I could see it since they can fit 2 RTT - but on a Disco or Defender or Jeep forget it

I made a post on Rovers North website this morning inquiring to see if they still make custom roof racks. They once did and they were amazing and light
