I thought that first one was pretty cool, but look closely and you'll see how much interior space could potentially be eaten up with that system when it's stowed. Not so much by 110 standards, but in a 90 you'd feel the pinch.

That original system would work great with my 130. I am not a fan of RTT's but I dont mind sleeping on the ground in the without a tent when the weather allows. I usually sleep in the truck in when it's raining but this system would make it much roomier than what I am used to now.

i don't get where the tent is?:camping:

If you had a Defender or Series Rover it would make more sense. A D110 or my 130 has just enough room to lay down in if you are under 6' tall. I am 5'11" and I have ot bent my legs just a bit if I want to close the door. This tent extension lets you stretch out. I also like the slide out storage system, I have been thinking of doing the same with my truck. It's not a bad idea, it's just that it would be a little labor intensive and pricey to make a one of a kind system like that, I guess it would be two of a kind now:)

I certainly see the potential, but the size was a little much for me. It probably meets his needs very well, mixing the storage tray with the tent extension. For my uses, I could see incorporating a flip down panel on the back door for the floor and creating a tent extension that could be easily folded and stowed. Velcro or snaps coulld fasten it to the door frame, and the door can provide one of the walls.

:smileeek: Yea, thats kinda what I figured, thats why I posted my Nissan Hatch tent

When we sleep inside the Xterra, I get close to 80 inches of sleep space, for me (passenger side) and can LOCK all the doors for security !!

If someone is willing to attack you in a tent I'm pretty sure they'd think nothing of a rock through the window of your truck. Camping, by it's nature, is not a secure pastime.

How ideas come around. You guys need to check out the Ex MOD 9X9 command tents for the series FFR trucks or the 10X10 for the 101. It ain't as pretty but the idea has been around for decades.

I'll see if this picture works:

Never take a knife to a gun fight and don't challenge a S & W 1911 with rocks

I sleep with two things, my wife and my COCKED & LOCKED 1911, which by the way, goes with my LOCK & ROLL Trailer Hitch

Ah now Jimbo, that's where we differ in our view of security. You take your Nissan and fell the need to sleep with a loaded gun. You have to wait for the perpetrator to break in to find out they shouldn't mess with you.

With me, I drive my 101, which says military nut all over it. From at least 1/4 of a mile away everyone truly believes that not only do I have a gun, it is probably black and belt fed, my dog may even have a flamethrower. Deterence is wonderful and I have never felt the need to actually pack a gun.

Not wanting to start a gun control thing or anything so heated but merely pointing out that deterence is all about appearance than actual capacity for violence. Each to their own and all that.

/Edit/ I've never figured out the whole smiley mood things but a smiley face with a thumbs up can go here.

I have one of those. It is serves a different purpose than Bill's Defender Tiki Lounge though. The Land Rover day tent has no floor and is not intended for sleeping. Bill's small littlle D90 extension is quick to setup, and provides a nice place for one person to sleep. Perfect for trail runs.

Pictures of my Land Rover day tent attached to my DII are on the first post in the same thread just after the trip report. Whipsaw Trail Trip Report thread.

Bill posted a few more pictures of his "Tiki Lounge" D90 tent in a project thread.
