Need opinions on AEV suspension/tire upfgrade

3in coils netted me 4.5in of lift. on 35s it looked like a scared spider standing up.
on 37s she looks right.

i would also recommend against the AEV kit. Ive installed a few of them and you are paying more for a name than you should. Rock Krawler or terraflex will give you more bang for your dollar.

I appreciate the advice from everyone here, why I love the forum is there's plenty of knowledge to draw from. My intentions with this AEV lift is to keep warrantied and give me a basic setup to hold the additional weight while keeping good road manners. I know eventually I'll change the setup and further upgrade, but for now just wanted something to start a platform. Once it's set up and built more, I can determine how/what needs changed or upgraded. As an update to the 2.5 setup, picked the Jeep up at the dealership yesterday and made it 2 miles before it felt like the Jeep was going to shake apart. Returning to the dealership my first words were "Nobody test drove this. Please don't tell me they did or make any excuses, just make it right." So now my 6'3'' 270lb self is squeeeezed into a Chrysler 200 at the moment waiting on a call from the service department.

wow. 20 bucks says they didnt torque the track bars.

I would say the same, or something is installed incorrectly, like they never installed the drop brackets or something like that.

Sorry for your luck. I have to question why did you not install the lift yourself? And how does having a AEV lift not effect ones warranty and another brand does?

2 reasons, weather and time. My garage is full of motorcycles and not large enough to accommodate the JKU, it's currently 11 degrees outside. Second reason is that I work 65-70 hours a week and this is my DD. My last JKU was done in the driveway in the summer when I worked a normal work-week and had time on the weekend to get it installed. As for the warranty, I know a lot can be argued that any lift shouldn't void any factory warranty but it makes things a lot simpler if there's an issue to say it was all factory warrantied and installed. With an enormous amount of time spent at work, a wife that has a crazy schedule as well, 2 teenagers to run around to activities, 3 dogs to tend to...I just want simple and easy. To me, the allure of swiping a card to have someone else do it was great and I believed I was avoiding all these headaches. So here's an overview of my situation with the Jeep/AEV dealer: Drop it off Monday, get a call on Tuesday that the rear passenger tire is too close to the control arm. I ask what is different since the spacer lift had no issues, I am told it's dangerous? Mention that I have a set of 1.5'' spacers I was going to return but could bring them by. I drive 45 min to drop off spacers, thread pitch is different so now they need to find proper open faced lug nuts. Called on Wednesday to pick it up. Get there, whoa, why is the bill so high? Um, not paying $300 for removing an old lift that was spacers and shock extensions only. Yeeeah, also not paying for a tire rotation considering the wheels come off to install the lift anyways. Bill is corrected, here's my card, thank you and see you in 500 miles to check it over. 2 miles down the road feels like all 4 tires are out of balance. Take it back and am told it was test driven for 15 miles, I call BS on that, please fix it. Put me in a loaner car and tell me they'll call me tomorrow with an update. Tomorrow comes, no call. I phone at 1pm and am told the tech is at lunch, they will call me shortly with an update. The service writer mentions a balancing problem with the tires, I ask how since they were all absolutely perfect and have only 3k miles on them? I am told she will call me shortly...never get a call. This morning...no call. I phone at 10am, please tell me what's going on with my Jeep? We left you a voicemail yesterday (they absolutely 100% did not, but I didn't even try to argue at this point). I am told the spacers had to come off and there's one tire that's not balancing right, they will call me back with an update. At 11am this morning I had enough, basically with my job if I don't pick it up around 1pm today I can't get it until next week, that's just not acceptable to me. I call and calmly state it doesn't take an entire morning to remedy a tire balance issue, I will be there to pick up the Jeep at 1pm today and it needs to be ready, what is the status right now? It's on the alignment rack again? I might need a track bar now? I AM FURIOUS. Understand guys, if they called me on Wednesday and told me there were some issues on the test drive and it will be another couple days, that's totally ok. It's the lack of communication coupled with the fact I seem to know more than they do about Jeeps that has me livid.

My 2 cents.

On road the AEV kit is very nice, not much roll and handles very well for 4.5 and 37" Toyo's
Off road it gets real old real quick. I ran White Rim last year and by the end I wanted to run my Jeep off one of the cliffs there.
I have swapped out the 5160's for Fox 2.5 internal bypass's with DSC, and some King bumpstops.
I am hoping that this addition will give me at least a little adjustment to control it off road.
Cheers!

The dealership called and said all 4 tires were severely out of balance...yet somehow they were 100% perfect when I dropped it off. The service writer said the word 'trackbar' about 272 times and that the shop foreman just put 40 miles on the Jeep without issue. Heading out within the hour so we shall see...

Deliberate obfuscation....

Ugh sorry to hear about this experience.

Once you get it sorted (either by the dealer, yourself or a knowledgeable shop) you'll like the lift. we've run the 2.5 hard off road and it does it all...and gets you to work the rest of the week.

Check in over at the AEV forum for any other questions. Lots of folks knowledgable about the parts & willing to help work it through (including AEV Dave).

Best of luck.

Well the dealership made it all right. I had a chance to go over everything with their shop foreman who sincerely apologized and took over after my bad experience. He said the tech is in some deep you-know-what since he drove the Jeep immediately after I brought it back and couldn't believe he said it was done. He had to adjust everything, plus remove the wheel spacers (that I said they didn't need in the first place). Basically the initial tech did everything while the Jeep was on the lift in the air, no none of the adjustments were correct and at full extension the sway bar link barely touches the tire which made him think it did that all the time. Long story short, a real tech fixed all the issues and spoke to me recognizing I've installed my own lifts on the last 4 JK's. The AEV point-man at the dealership apologized for days and promised a phenomenal discount on any other parts purchased through them to make amends. As for the lift impressions, I put about 50 road miles and am really impressed. The Jeep is much more stable in all situations and bumps aren't nearly as bone-jarring as they were. The shuddering on large bumps & potholes has diminished considerably. Now looking forward to adding some weight with bumpers and a rack to see how it behaves, but I'm quite happy at the moment!

If it don't kill you and you get a discount, it's a good day.

I have to agree with that. When the text response was "don't worry, I'll get you much better prices on your parts" it's a good thing. Told him to let me know when the AEV bumpers are back in stock...
