New Gen 2 Montero SR Owner

Looking very good! As for getting used to driving it, make sure you don't let it sit too long or you might forget how it handles. Back in 2002 when I built my first Miata the Jeep sat for 5 months since I was enjoying driving the Miata so much, the first time driving the Jeep again I almost rolled it on its side because I had forgotten how high the COG was. And sometimes it's fun to drive the heavy pig of an SUV we own, makes driving a lighter car that much more rewarding.

Man the previous owner wasn't lying about barely using the 4wd system. The back diff and transfer case had pretty thick dark oil. The front diff oil looked virtually new. Rear diff took 2 3/4 quarts, transfer case took 2 1/2 and the front diff took a little more than 1 quart.

Next up...radiator flush!

Took the montero on a 1100 mile round trip road trip this past weekend to go to one of the only public OHV parks left in Texas. I brought additional oil and antifreeze just in case things went south. The Montero made it there and back with no issues, didn't have to top off any fluids. At 65-69mph (going from 600 ft above sea level to ~3300 feet), i was still averaging 18-19mpg on the highways! The Kenda klever m/t tires had great grip in all the terrain i encountered (loose dirt, 30+ degree hill climbs, small rocks, river beds, sand). Logged 25 miles of off road driving aired down to 25psi. However I did get stuck in some quicksand - human error there.

I did notice that the oil pressure dropped, but from what i've read here - that's normal after about 1000 miles on fresh oil.

Nice truck. Those Kendra's are interesting. I know absolutely nothing about them. Who actually makes them?
