New JK Rubicon owner

Hi!

After being tired of having too many money-spending hobbies like classic cars and offroading bikes  I decided to add another one  and bought a 2011 Rubicon 2.8CRD thus returning to 4x4 offroading after some years without (almost) nothing! My name's Paulo and I come from Portugal and, just to clarify any misleading, we're not a city from Spain! :victory: I've been following this forum in both Jeep and LR sections to try to decide what vehicle to buy and here I am...

I always said Land Rovers are the best 4x4xfar and still think that way (sorry guys :) ) but after having a 98 Disco2 TD5, a 00 Defender 110TD5, a 06 Range Rover TDV6 and now still owning a 2009 RR TDV8 I wanted a break. I did some light offroading with both Disco and RR and in stock form they don't have the best offroad capability vs price vs quality ratio... the 110 on the other hand was a blast to drive and it was my wife's town car :) but one can't expect any earthly comforts or understanding from your missus on this one, especially when it's covered in mud and a bit battered.

In the past I also had a 94 Toyota Hilux Tracker (a "special series" double cab SR5) and a 99 LandCruiser 90 or Prado but honestly they're actually too expensive when new or even in 2nd, 3rd or whatever hand...

So, here I am with an eagerly waited JK bought directly on the importer as it was one of their demo cars, being fairly low mileage (or km if you use a proper measure :ylsmoke: ) and with an apparent easy life so far. I only have it for 2 weeks and I can say it's been great. For those that want a diesel option in USA, I did a 400km (250miles) highway drive home when I picked it up and I did 10.5lt/100km (ok that's 22.5 mpg) averaging 100km/h (62mph) with no A/C. When speed up to 130-140km/h (80-86 mph) with A/C it did 13.5lt/100km (17.5mpg). Driving around town, it continues averaging the same as it did this weekend doing some light offroading. So, not that much, I'm not surprised but one must have some caution regarding fuel costs here... ( some usd$6.8 per gallon)

So, what about future... a small lift, maybe a 2.5'', some proper fr and rr bumpers, a roof rack and a set of wheels and tyres. It'll stay stock till after summer and then we'll see. Some (phone)photos now...

Hope I haven't been too tedious and I'll return with questions and doubts for you experts to help me :)

Cheers
Paulo
