After going through the thread and comments on both Facebook and YouTube, could you please offer insight on a couple of points?
- You mentioned that it does not have A/C, but there is room for one. Is this something that can be easily retrofitted if one wants to, or an endeavor not worth considering?
- Does the camper top have the electric lift, or is it manual? Same question as the A/C one: is it an easy add-on that can be done as well?
Thanks
Roberto
Thanks for the question,
The 4 independent electric roof jacks need to come stock from OEV as the roof panel is made thinner and less weight so the jacks can lift it, so no after add. I didnt want 4 separate electric mechanisms, jack weight and systems and a lower R value roof. With 8 gas struts and 2 large helper springs, the roof goes up manually very easily. We figured why spend $10,000 to add complexity for something you may only do once a day or less.
You can add a 12 volt AC to the roof or simply run one of the 12V portable units like zero breeze or ecoflow and take it only when you need it. Lastly you could use the smallest portable 120 volt unit like the LG 5100 btu floor unit. They are only 11” x 24”.
The truck is so well insulated we have never come close to needing air and that includes days in the upper 90’s as long as the nights cool into the 70’s. It has 6 large screened windows and 2 10-speed roof fans.
Less systems, less weights, less mechanicals is a plus for back country camping and over-landing, at least thats the way we see it.
