New Rubicon, time for tire decisions

I decided to go ahead and purchase a '13 Rubicon Unlimited, dealer made the deal too sweet to pass up. I ordered an AEV Dual Sport 2.5" lift with brackets today. I'm trying to pick my tires. I do not want 35's, so I am looking at p255/80/17, 285/75/17, or 285/70/17. My main trips will be the UP of MI, and possibly a trip to Colorado. Looking at BFG KM2's, Cooper STT, AND ST MAXX. I would like to utilize stock rims, any suggestions on tires?

thanks in advance

285-75 17 KM2's have worked well for me. I installed an Old Man Emu 2" lift (it ends up being almost 3") and they fit without any rubbing. Contrary to what many people say, they do hum above 35 mph, but you get used to it.

I have had good luck with my Goodyear Duratrac's. I'm on 33. I have only ran BFG's and Goodyear MTR's prior to the Duratrac.

Mud terrain style tires generally don't work as well in snow/ice as an all terrain tread does. Not sure if that is an issue for you.

Some sort of lost...
My experience is that km2s work better in snow/ice than the cooper stt. I would recommend siping the center tread blocks for snow/ice, but when I lived in Kentucky everyone looked at me sideways when I asked if they siped tires. Maybe they do it in Ohio, I don't know, pretty much any tires get around fine to me in snow where it's flat.
For what it's worth, my 2012 six speed with 4.10s still gets 18mpg on the freeway with 35" km2s. A 2.5" lift with 285s should work pretty well as far as power and mileage.

Oh and the KM2s are still the quietest and smoothest mud tire I've run on any of my vehicles so far, and the only tire I've purchased twice. I usually like to try something new but the km2s just worked very well for me.

I've been running the stock rubicon 255/75-17s on my Comanche, they are so quiet, almost feels like I'm running a road tire and they're not new. The 2 front prob 60% and the 2 backs 40%. I would prefer having the 255/80-17 KM2 but I can find great deals on these rubicon take offs. I will however put my 33x10.50-15 BFG ATs back on when the snow starts falling.

Unless they come with sipping. I've ran Super Swampers for years and used to use Michelin MTX for my primarily road trucks. I switched over to the Trxus MT a few years ago and haven't looked back. I also put them on my wife's Excursion replacing the BFG AT's in the winter. They had much better traction in the snow and ice.

I think I would just keep the stock BFGs if you arnt going with a 35

What he said. What's the matter with the stock tires? I just put a 2" spring lift on my JKUR and it doesn't look goofy at all and I'm heading to the rubicon tomorrow on the stock tires which were actually designed for that type of use.
