Do you have any pictures from the front of your 4Runner you could share? I've been thinking about getting this size tire for my 99 4Runner but think they might be too thin - a picture would help in my decision.

Thanks

255's are a good size but you could have fit 285 75r 16's? Thats whats on Sylvia's 2002 stock truck! The 285's AT's only touch off the fenders a small amount.

i say if they don't rub they are too small!:sombrero:

More photos

mrblond - i think this 4runner is ready for some San Diego salt air. As for 285's. Pretty sure the 4runners sit lower then the pickups and usually need wheel spacers to clear the UCA.

So far i'm loving these tires. Very smooth on the road/highway. Just a touch more noise then the All terrains. With the SS 7.2 lift they fill the wheel wells perfect! I also think the pizza cutter looks really good with the skinny body of the 4runner.

I'm hoping to get out on some trails this weekend to test them out and get some photos not using the iPhone.

Thanks for the additional pics. Did you get a 255/85/16 spare and does it fit in the stock location under the truck?

I still have a factory spare. Id be interested if the 255/85/16 did fit??
Even if its aired way down.

Anyone know if it will fit?

I have to disagree. Rubbing can damage the tire and the truck, and can really hinder your ability to move and actually cause you to get stuck. I also like tall skinny tires, and if I could get a 255/80 R17 (they would measure the same height and width) BFG AT that is what I'd put on my new to me 2005 Tundra.

Fits if flat with a ratchet strap squishing it towards the rear. Does NOT fit if inflated! Wide is for mall crawlers. Assuming you aren't in some really snowy or muddy place.

I've got the earlier version of the same tire on a 2001 4Runner.

The 255's are actually taller than the 285's. I'm running the 255' KM2's on my 4Runner and most of my buddies are running various 285's. Great tire and size for a 4Runner.

Wow, you are right. Thats a great size tire! I think with those narrow tires I wont need to replace the front fenders as often!:sombrero:
