Fort Collins is one of my favorite cities to visit. GREAT beer and a laid back green seen. City is full of awesome people. I would love to live there one day. Enjoy Co, and if you snowboard you just arrived in heaven. :victory:

Finally making some headway. Ordered a set of 285/75r16 Warden A/T's from Treadwright today. Also going to go pick up an older Four Wheel Granby truck camper tomorrow. The sleeping platform was great for just my wife and I....but we are pregnant with a little girl and we will need the extra space of a camper for the family!

Congrats with the new addition!

I'm running 285 Good Year A/Ts, those were put on for the street and pretty new, it will be awhile before I do any wheel tire thing on my 99, keep it up, looking forward to more!

Thanks Ozarker! My wife and I are beyond excited for the baby to come.

Well, the camper fell through but I'm looking at a couple of other ones. The guy never answered his phone Sunday and proceeded to tell me on Monday that someone had just picked it up.....oh well. I did order Pro comp add-a-leafs for the rear to get a little lift and a little more payload for whatever camper I wind up with. Hope to get them installed and crank the front torsion bars before the treadwrights show up, so I only have to do the alignment once.

Glad to be hanging out on the Expo again. Spent the past 2.5 years driving a Volvo C30 and it feels good to be back in a 4x4 :smiley_drive:

Here she is

IMG_9286.jpg

1997 Extended cab with the long bed. Has the 4.6L V8 and a whopping 72k miles. Has a Brohman Shell that has a reinforced skeleton on the inside. Also has a a hydrogen fuel cell setup which I know nothing about. If anyone has any input, I'm all ears. And to round it out, it has a Pioneer Appradio. Unfortunately I'm an Android fanboy so most of the functions are useless to me. Supposedly it can be jailbroken so you can run Navigation software without having it attached to an Iphone, so I'm going to play with that.

First mod will be really simple. My fiance and I are going to fab up some curtains for the camper shell. Pretty much a necessity up here in Alaska with the looooong summer days. Swapping out the teany tiny 235's for some 285's are also on the short list, as is some sort of a sleeping platform with storage underneath.

Nice! BTW, do you know if you have the towing package? And what is it?

You have better miles on your 97 than my 99, that's awsome, I'm at 74K.

Maybe some of the F-150 types can chime in on the trailer package. I bought mine new and was told it had the trailer/towing package, oil cooler, more springs, bigger gas tank and maybe the torsion bar, I can't really recall exactly. I have lost my original papers on it, so I'm not sure what the add-ons really are. You could probably have the same thing on the 97!

I honestly haven't got a clue about the towing packing. All I know is that it has the factory hitch and wiring, and that I towed a 5k lb trailer from Alaska to Colorado and my temp gauge never budged, which I thought was impressive considering I towed through the Yukon territory, the Canadian Rockies and then the Colorado Rockies. There were days that I climbed all day and the truck never bogged down and never over heated. The rear end did sag pretty bad though. And my gas tank is 30 gallons. Don't know if that helps, but I'll see if I can find the original paperwork and look for specifics.

I think the tow package was a hitch and wiring, transmission cooler and maybe heavier duty rear springs. T bars only changed with cab/bed/engine configurations and snow plow package. Gas tank size depends on bed length, my short bed has a 24 gallon tank.

The treadwrights came in today. Here's a teaser pic. I'll post more once they're mounted this weekend...

Well, just tried to get my Treadwrights installed at Discount Tire here in Fort Collins, CO.......and got turned away. The guy actually told me I was an idiot for buying "tires that were glued together", and that I needed to contact the company that I bought them from for a full refund. He says that retreads are extremely dangerous and illegal! So now I guess I get to spend Saturday calling tire shops to find one that will mount and balance retreads. Fun times. Unless anyone on here can recommend a tire shop in the Fort Collins area?

Alright, the tires are on! They rub pretty bad, so I'm going to trim the front valence today to hold me over until the 2" lift arrives. Here's a driveway pic

What 2" kit did you get? If it is a set of keys return them and just adjust your factory bars. You will get the same results...

Guess I shouldn't have said "kit". I ordered the Pro Comp add-a-leaf kit for the rear, and I'm just going to crank the torsion bars for the front. Should net me 1.5"-2" all around and only cost me about $40.

Here's a better side shot. I completely removed the lower front valence. The add a leafs should be here by Thursday, so I'll install those Saturday and then get the alignment done. It sits level front and rear with about 6" of clearance all around. That's why I'm going to do add-a-leafs in the rear and torsion bar in the front, rather than just cranking the torsion bars.

Looks Good! The only other thing that I added after cranking the torsion bars and the bigger tires was a steering stabilizer. I felt it made a difference in how the steering felt...

Good to know about the stabilizer. New shocks are next on the list, so I'll pick up a steering stabilizer too.
