The "Beast" has arrived.......

The axle housing was ready even though the RCV axles haven't arrived, so I opted for taking the axle home and starting the process of seeing how well it fits.

That pumpklin looks so large I'm beginning to wonder how many other modifications I'm going to need to make so it doesn't hit anything.

More later....

Thanks,
Fred

Fred, I think you better really check how much clearance there is between the differential housing and the oil pan at full bump.

If I remember correctly you are not running a lot of lift or long bump stops and that housing appears to encroach more to the centre line than what I remember what a Dana 30/44 does.

Funny, nothing like a dig differential housing to show just how narrow/small a Jeep ~OEM width axle housing really is...

Dig it.

Keep us posted.

So far, so good.........

Once I pulled out the Dana 30 I was amazed how small it looked:

I'll need to cycle it through to see if I need to adjust the Acos or modify the bump stops. So far it fits in fine.

A little too close for comfort?????

Cycled through the suspension today and first off the engine and trans skid plate is going to need to be slightly modified (corner cut off).

Next, as I suspected, I'm going to need a custom down pipe/collector on the header:

Third, I was surprised that the oil pan didn't hit but how close is too close???? :Wow1:

The skid plate can wait, the header will have to be dealt with first and I'm still deciding on the oil pan.

Fred

Between flex in your arms and compression in your bushings I would like to see more space between the differential housing and the oil pan. Are you running stock length bump stops?

The Bump stops with the rubber cushion are 5". This is a full flex with the ACOS adjusted adding 1" of lift.

I know pictures can make things look funny but it kinda looks like the front axle needs to go forward some.

Yep, needs some adjuctment

Your right, the LCA & UCA's need some adjustment. Off come the springs and time to adjust the length.

Thanks,
Fred

That looks better, the axle will swing forward when it flexes and line up fine. But, your caster looks off...
