Nice Set Of Twins.

I was informed today that there may possibly be a nice set of twins to look at down at the Convention Center. Our source said he didn't know what they were, but he was pretty sure they said "Icon" on the side.

It took all of about 15 minutes to get down there and look at them. Sorry for the cell phone pics, but it's all I had on me.

I have to say that ever since I have owned my Diesel 45, I have always felt fortunate to have it. From the first time I saw one, I have always considered the 45 to be my "Holy Grail" of off road vehicle's. With that being said, I've never understood the expense/popularity of the Icon Series trucks. Especially since you can import fine examples of both the 45 and 43 series trucks right now.

Now, after having the chance to observe them up close, I can see what all the fuss is about. They deserve every bit of attention, media and hype they have received. They are very nice machines.

There's just something so right about them, isn't there? No giant roof rack, six antennas, 17 lights, and screaming graphics kinda stuff. Just a get-it-done-without-a-fuss kinda thing. Tough to describe. Easy to see.

Sweet trucks.

If I ever win the lottery, I will be knocking on TLCs door that day. I would buy two, one to drive and one to just look at

I have said it before, $15,000 chevy drivetain and $100,000 to have a 40/43/45 grafted on it - in no means meant to be disrespectful - for some it is well worth it.

I think the price is 100% justified in the sense of workmanship, engineering, etc. - as I know the effort that goes into doing a custom vehicle like that. BUT, speaking on functionality, I just dont see what it would offer somebody beyond what a fully kitted out Tacoma would or even a pristine FJ40, both of which would be 1/3 of the price and virtually on par performance, if not more in certain areas.

Cosmetic/cool factor is off the charts, which is what you are paying for - to which they did a excellent job. Toyota should take note - I think TLC is offering something that everybody wishes the factory would.

I don't know, you start throwing in a custom suspension to hold all of that up, and custom interior, and hours and hours of work, if you were to have somebody build one for you starting out with a 40/43/45, and have everything that the ICON has....$$$$$

When you said you had pictures of a "nice set of twins", this wasn't the first thing I thought of. But nice nonetheless. :victory:

Yep... Really neat and beautifuly built trucks being that they're the not-oft-seen 45 and 43 (OH GOD HOW I WANT A 43!!!!) but after all that you get a shivvy drivetrain... at that point I'd pay them to take it out...

But then, if I were paying that much I'd also have the dollars to find a 4.5V8 TD and 5spd from an Aussie 78series anyway... I'm fairly sure at that price point you can have anything you want put under the hood. I hope.

Cheers
