OEM parts source alternative?

Does anyone know of anyone who sells Toyota OEM parts at the same or close to the same discount as C-dan over on Mud, and also has the some knowledge about 80s? C-dan is buried and there's 55 mudders ahead of me trying to order parts. I'm sure I won't be able to get through until later in the week, but I was hoping to start a major PM project this weekend.

Any ideas?

I just can't stomach going to my local dealer who absolutely refuses to give me any kind of discount whatsoever.

I was wondering why I did not get a call back from Dan today when I called...I'm glad you posted this, I tend to be disgruntled when ignored. :violent-smiley-031: Now I know better!

I have heard good things on TTORA about Toyota of Dallas. I don't know about their depth of Cruiser Knowledge, but prices seem consistantly good, from what research and conversation I've had with them.

Try Toyota of Dallas. Comparable prices and excellent service. I have used them quite a bit for 4Runner parts.

Are you PMing or calling him? I've always called and the worst that has happened is he takes my number and calls back in an hour. He must be getting slammed with all the people getting their rigs ready for the spring/summer.

Sierra Toyota in Sierra Vista AZ. Talk to John Hocker, he's the partsmaster and he honors the TLCA discount. He's also a Cruiserhead.

Our conversation lasted about 5 seconds, but he was clearly out of breath. I tried calling since this morning...when I finally got through late in the afternoon, I was like..woo-hooo..finally! But then he said he couldn't take my order...

55 people ahead of me, he just got off of 9 days vacation and its the last day of the month.

darn it. I completely understand though.

He said he'd call back tomorrow, but I have a bad feeling....

Not because he won't try...but 55 people...that's a lot of orders to take in one day. Someone's going to be busy boxing up all that stuff too.

If you're in a pinch, PM me with what you need. I have about 8000 LC parts right behind me!!!!

Thanks much! I'll see if Dan calls back tomorrow. I have some specific heater hose questions for him, but basically I'm looking for a bunch of heater/coolent hoses, a starter, and some other parts (don't have my list in front of me). I'll be tearing things down this weekend (or maybe the following weekend) and doing a major cooling/heating system PM, putting in a new OEM starter and upgrading the alternator with some parts I already have. Plus some other PM work while I'm in there.

I do appreciate all the suggestions and the offer of help. I guess it makes sense that TLC would have a good stockpile. ;)

Other than C-Dan, here's some other low cost Internet outlets.

http://www.1sttoyotaparts.com (Bob Bridges in Renton, WA)
http://www.toyotapartscheap.com (Mossy Toyota in San Diego)
http://www.toyotaworld.com (Champion Toyota in Houston)
http://www.trdparts4u.com (Toyota of Dallas)
http://www.partznet.com (Conicelli Toyota in Philadelphia)

I've personally used Bob Bridges and Toyota of Dallas for a couple of things (TRD or OME/ARB that my dealer does not carry), but for 95% of my stuff I use my local Toyota guy who I've been going to for years now. His pricing tends to be a touch higher than these guys since he works on commission (typically about 15~20% below list). I don't mind since I figure he's allowed to eat and will really take care of me when push comes to shove. Shipping tends to be a big equalizer, my local dealer gets parts from Kansas City and it's 2 days tops for the regular delivery of stuff not stocked. When you figure in all the free filters and other stuff that isn't invoiced, I know I pay less in the end. Just for being loyal and bringing beer...

I've ordered through Dan in the past also.

Why cant he pass the parts request to his other guys? he's giving us list price. Can't any of them can enter the order...I dont understand... if you know what part it is, then you should be good to go. You wouldn't wait through 55 people if you were a normal customer.

Im not complaining, im simply asking.

I'm not sure what the situation is over there today, but his other guys might already be taking those orders as well and were also busy. I actually tried to get through to anyone in the parts department before Dan answered the phone and couldn't get get anyone, so I'm sure if it was a very busy day.

The reason I'm giving him leeway is the discount, which I think is 20-25% off the list price and the free (at least in the past) shipping. I also have a few quick questions and I know he'll know exactly what I need, being has he's an 80 owner and pretty much an 80 expert. I don't have to worry about explaining to some kid over the phone which heater hose I need or which gasket, etc.

If I had access to the EPC and could rattle off every single part number, I'd probably just go through one of the online discount stores. That would probably be the easiest.

I really would like the parts sooner, but I can understand the situation. BTW, if I just wanted to pay list price, I have two local dealers here who are more than happy to charge me full price for my parts...even though I used to be regular customers of them.

Dan has been out of town, and I called John and got set up; with the same "mud" discount...great guy!

Lee aka SINCITY100 on Ih8mud is also a Toyota Parts guy that gives a good discount to us. Though he has a 100, he should be well versed in the 80 after 20+ years of service at his dealership.

Also, there is somebody selling the Toyota EPC on mud. Try searching the vendor section.
