off road lights

I think I'm pretty much set on the hella 500s or 500ffs. Going to drive down to the US as soon as I get my passport to get them and do some shopping with the wife (and get a turkey too).

I like lights. I have the hella 500s and a pair of lightforce 170s and I'll probably add more at some point. Like to have some hid's someday. But do I need more? Nope. I can't (or won't) overdrive what I have now. I don't rally or desert race.

I really wish I could do what I did for my Jeep. 7" round IPF E-code headlights with the 80-100 watt h4 bulbs. With those I have no need for any driving lights (admittedly the Jeep doesn't see high speeds) and just have a pair of floods to supplement them.

Btw, I've use the inserts from Hella and IPF and like them both. Haven't been able to try the Cibie ones yet.

I found out there is a napa where I am going in the US and they seem to have a lot of hella stuff. The hella 500s seem to still be the best price ($120 for 4) but now I'm trying to decide if it might be better to go with 4 2500 angel eye driving lights or 2 of the rallye FF1000s or 3000s (ony thing is 2 might look a little goofy on the roof)

I'm going down to the US tomorrow and just called walmart superstore... they claim they don't carry the hella 500s? Is this new? The girl from the auto dept didn't seem the quickest and didn't even know what they were.

If they don't have them I guess I'll just have to hope Napa or partsquest has something and are open (going after work so wont be there till about 630pm)

Just got off the phone with another walmart and they have 2 sets in stock (one set ff one set regular) but they won't hold them for me. Napa's got nothing hella in stock...

picked up 4 hella 500's tonight (and two little 55w lights that are about 2"x2" that I want to try out for either "alley lights" or back up lights. Also proved my point to my finance why I want them. Hitting a deer at 50mph and smashing my grill and bumper was more then enough on the drive back from picking them up.

I hope you're fine after that deer heat and luckuly it wasn't a moose. It's good that your lady now agree on the lights with you, but it was extreame measure to prove it...;)

Hey, now you can use the insurance money to get a nice new front bumper to mount some more lights on. ;) Did you get FF's, or one set of each?

I haven't really seen a bumper I like for the liby, the arb is too big and bulky.
I just got two sets of the 500s, they were sold out of the ff's

I got the lights bolted up to the roof and wiring ran to under the hood. It was too dark for pictures though. Going to hopefully finish up tomorrow and will grab some pics. Also going to go get the estimate for the deer incident repairs.

I took it for a spin on the highway and went up to 120km/h and there is almost no wind noise at all, had to listen very hard to hear it and my girlfriend couldn't hear it at all.
