Officially got the ARB bumper and Pioneer screen on the 4runner!

Well i picked up a used ARB bumper yesterday morning so it was a challenge to find the hardware needed to bolt up everything up. Well after getting the bumper, things got better and i picked up a Pioneer Avic-D3 last night on the way home...

Well i got home last night and was so ecstatic about the great stuff i had gotten i tore apart my dash and got the touch screen in there to replace my alpine though it is missing a few parts (plan to pick those up very soon: gps antenna and bluetooth mic).

This morning i ran to 2 different Home Depots and was able to get all the bolts and hardware that i needed to install the bumper... so i drove over to a friend's place which was trying to get a "wrench-a-thon" party so we immediately got started and they all thought i was crazy for cutting the frame ends off and we ran into a small problem with one bracket not being exactly straight but after a little tweaking we got everything on and it took us about 2-3 hours to get it all done.

Sry for the long posts but here are the pics and on the Pioneer, i plan to change the backgrounds to some sort of toyota images but not 100% sure yet.

I installed a Pioneer AVH-4200DVD (and amp, speakers and a small sub) a couple of months ago and have been very happy with it. The stock system really does suck. I have the camera for it but haven't hooked it up yet. I've been thinking about the Bluetooth module- post up how you like it when you get it installed.

ya i think im going to order the mic and gps antenna sometime this week... ya i hated the factory headunit and got rid of it along time ago. This pioneer is replacing my alpine cda 9884 which i loved but just wanted something with a screen.

Ya dude the 4200s are nice, thats wat i was gonna get originally but since i got this one for a trade it was even better and this one has navi and the bluetooth so its a win win for me! ya i plan to get 3-4 cams and a switch to be able to cycle through them at any time.

That's pretty funny as I was looking at that deck then Amazon put the 4200s on sale. LOL I looked at the nav setup but from what I could gather a basic Garmin Nuvi will do more for a lot less; it just doesn't look as clean. I've got a 760, 60CSX and a 500 (mostly for the bikes) so I'm kinda set there; oh, and a GPS setup on the laptop (and still not very good at using them).

I am very interested in the Bluetooth setup and how you plan to set your cameras up. I'd like to add at least two more inexpensive cameras- one on the front and one underneath. I've got the cheaper of the two Pioneers for the back; all the reviews I could find said the more expensive wasn't worth it.

The only thing that really bothers me is now I've got this very visible stereo on my dash. I've been draping a towel over the dash and stereo but I think I'm going to make some sort of cover out of Kydex since it's easy to work with. I need to get an alarm system.

I had the Avic D3 installed when they first came out, a very nice navigation/stereo system.

Ya robert i know wat u mean... i dunno if u saw my older thread of my hidden gps mod but i have a garmin in my sunvisor right now so i dont really need the navi on this screen but since it came with it, its a plus and well as for not having to spend any money made it officially the best trade! haha

Ya Corey i saw ur thread on Yotatech a few times... I like the way it looks in ur fj and i was gonna see if u changed the backgrounds to custom ones or not? im trying to find some really nice ones, though i have a two im planning to use.

I have a picture of my FJ up at Greenwater from a few years back as the wallpaper on it.
Other than that, I have the lights set to a green color on it.

Yeah I caught that thread- I remember being a bit amazed just how cheap our visors are.

It's a really cool idea but I swap my units around between vehicles so that wouldn't work for me plus I rarely flip my visor down. I had actually thought about using one of the Lilliput double DIN touch screens and building a car computer but then I accepted the reality of my computer illiteracy and decided to go the easy way. :snorkel:

If you have any websites or info on setting up multiple cameras on the Pioneer system I'm very interested.

Ok so i saw this thread a long time ago and talked to the OP about wats needed to make this work so all the info is on the last page but i would def recommend u browse through the entire thread. If might like his GPS mount though im not a huge fan of it.

UPDATE: ok well i picked up a set of Hella 500FFs after class and since i had the day off i decided to install them to complete the look i wanted with the bull bar... The lights are run off of the factory fog light switch only illuminates when the i have the corner lights on and headlights on. I have done the independent fog light mod so they will stay on with high beams and turn off with the ignition.
