Thanks for the advice. I really like what you have done with your build. And I have the same trailer as well. I guess its really just taking that first step to get going. So I wanted to ask some questions to see if maybe you can point me in the right direction.
- What size and type of sheet metal did you use for the floor, lid and tongue?
- What size and type did you use for the lid structure?
- What size and type did you use for the tongue extension?
- Any techniques to make sure the tongue is perfectly center on the tub?
- Where did you purchase the #3500 axle?
- Did your trailer come with shocks? Mine only came with leaf springs.
- Do you have any plans or diagrams on building the sheet metal bender?
Sorry for the list of questions.. But your build is an inspiration to me!
Cheers
Frank
1. Floor and Tongue - i believe it is 16 gauge., Lid - 20 gauge
2. Lid structure - 1" square tube .065 thick, the cross members in the lid are 1" square with 0.072 thickness
3. Tongue Extension - 2 x 3 rectangle tube .120 thick i guess. ( i will confirm this later when i get back home)
4. To make the tongue perfectly square, just make sure measure all the cross dimensions from each joint and everything should measure the same. I had my tub upside down while i am making cuts and measuring the tongue. This made the job little easier.
5. Axle is from Dexter. Most online trailer stores should have them or you can even call the dexter and get a custom order done.
6. Mine came with the shocks. but i planning to replace one. haven't decided on which one though.
7. I watched lot of videos and picked up ideas from there.. you get started with this

No worries about the questions. Glad i am able to help a bit.
Enjoy your build.
