My daily driver that i sold this morning was a 99 Taco 4cyl 2wd. I am looking at 84-89 4runners and older pickups. I want to spend up to $3k for something running or > $1.5k for something not running. This is not going to be an expo truck but it will be my 4x4 beater. Any suggestions?

$3500 is probably not going to get you an '85 4Runner or 4x4 Truck. I would look for the newest one with a 4 cylinder and a 5 speed.

I prefered my '85 pickup over my '87 & '89 4Runners. Personal preference...

You still in CO? I see lots of both on Denver's CL often. Also lots of them for sale on Yotatech's classifieds.

I dont see why you cant find one for $3K, shoudlnt be a problem with a little searching. It wont be perfect, but for a 4x4 beater if should be fine. I have considered both of those options a few times, but cant seem to keep myself out of the LC fold.

I just missed out on an 89 4runner for $1200. I am all over CL right now. I'll check out yotatech.

I'm still in Colorado and Lovin It.

Here's a 1983 regular bed that's most of the way there. It's a beater, but seems to have a start gear-wise.

THE BAD:
Truck has some rock rash from hardcore trails and rockcrawling,
both doors are dented, but they still open and close, lock,
and the windows go up and down. The interior is kind of rough, no stereo.
A few pics are without doors, but
as mentioned, it does have doors.
The bench seat has a tear on the driver side seat
Currently the passenger side headlight is out, so the
headlights and taillights are not working. Possible wiring?
The brake lights and turn signals do work though.

All in all, this is a good truck, it runs very well, it always starts up right away, and does surprisingly well on the road. It is an incredible rockcrawler!!!! I have driven it to Moab and back under it's own power 4 times in the last 2 years. It has always had oil changes at 3000 miles, and does not smoke, leak or burn oil. It has CURRENT emissions tests, is registered, plated, insured and driven often. It has a clean Colorado title.

PRICE REDUCED BY $900, NOW ASKING $3000 OR BEST OFFER!!!

PLEASE CALL (720)524-7271, leave a message if no answer and your call WILL be returned the same day!

If you don't find something you like after a couple of weeks, hit me up. I may be moving soon and will most likely have to sell a couple of vehicles. My '85 SR5 extended cab EFI truck may be on the chopping block. I just drove it to Denver last weekend and came back up over Trail Ridge road through Rocky Mountain National park. Just need some exhaust work and I noticed a couple of drops of oil coming out of the rear pinion seal this morning. I just bought it about a month ago but it seems pretty dependable.

Simple: Do you need a bed? If so, get a PU. If not, get a 4Runner.

I really like the 1st Gen 4Runners with the removable top. I really wish Toyota would bring it back, if not to the 4Runner, at least to the FJC or something.

The problem with 99% of the 1st Gens for sale around here is the severe rust issue.

You're gonna love it man, that's nearly the exact same truck I have and even though it's not quick in ANY way shape or form, I still smile every time I get in it.
