Not my normal style, but... If you brought it down here to South FL would I take it out to the swamp buggy trails in the everglades? HELL YEAH! Looks like fun.

And remember kids, "to each their own".

I'd say that its a bit much for most wheeling, but for a purpose built rig thats able to go through deep muskeg, ashy volcanic fields, deep snow, etc. I'd say its a pretty classy setup.

I'd like to hear a spec list before final judgement, but its seems like a clean, focused build. I actually like the exo-cage.

Remember, guys this is a FUN hobby. And that certainly is FUN truck. :D Try not to be so serious y'all...my kids would get a kick out of riding in that, and so would yours and you know it. haha!

It is a hobby, and this was a project, his kids love it ultimately!!, all they want, is him to take them to school in this. The kids can't get enough!! They love their new "school rig", school rover", school MONSTER!? This was definately for the love of the kids!! I'm not a kid, but it is AMAZING!!!

You would have to have a cherry-picker just to check the oil dipstick.

Probably, but I bet it would be a snap to check 90 wt levels.

I'm sure that truck wouldn't even notice some terrain that would stop mine cold, or at least bogged deep & sinking. Its probably a near perfect rig for some terrains.

Its a different kind of rig than I'm used to but I can appreciate it for what it is and what it can do that mine can't.

And don't forget, if anyone can't play nice take it to the Freelander thread.

It's actually a neat vehicle. I'd have saved the series body panels for a series truck but that's just me. The fact that the owner wanted to do it and likes it is really all that matters. I'm sure some of our vehicles aren't to his personal liking either. I bet if the body were more "expedition" looking and functioning we'd be all over the vehicle.

the snobbery is coming out pretty clear here on this one.

we have trails in wisconsin that would be perfect for that truck and he wouldent be alone because there are lots of guys running 44"-52" tires.

Wheeling is a big wide open community and just because people are focused on one corner of it(expedition travel for example) does not then dictate that all other areas are a joke or "retarded".

This person did not come into this community and start claiming his creation as the ultimate land rover yet people attack it like it takes something away from other rovers?

Not my cup of tea in the least, but if it's what someone wants, more power to them. Really my only question is how would that roll cage actually hold up? Just doesn't look very substantial, considering all the $$ apparently spent on the rig.

That is a problem that I see all too frequently in roll cages. Lots and lots of tubing, but no real triangulation of the whole thing, at best just in bits and spots.

I'd like to have a dollar for every time the builder thought "This is going to piss off the purists!"

I value the effort involved, but I've no need or use for the vehicle.

I think it would look better w/out the cage, especially in the front. Must be a bit of a chore to drop the kinds off at school. Does it have rope fire escape ladders that drop down? would be fun to see it run over a Smart car!

Now you're seeing things from the other side. ;) There's a lot of "expedition" type stuff that gets posted up on other boards and made fun of by the hardcore crowd. What's been posted here criticizing it is pretty tame by comparison, and most of the most respected members haven't said anything at all.
