I have been driving trucks for Uncle Sam for about 20 years. We used to buy Fords and Chevys, but moved to the Power Wagon in 2006. I've had two of them since then, and no experience with the Raptor. What I can say about the Dodge is that they're built for work. I used to destroy a Chevy in 18 months to 2 years just by flexing it apart. The Ford did much better, but the transmission was horrible for rock crawling and there was too much plastic at the bumpers and it was too low. The Dodges have been excellent off road, especially the sway bar disconnects. Everyone talks about the lockers, but I probably have only used one about 5 or 6 times. I use the sway bar disconnects almost everyday, and they are what really make the truck much more comfortable off road. You will want to get rid of the OEM shocks, in my most recent truck they only lasted three thousand miles. And replace the battery with a gel cell or dual battery system. There's so much heat under the hood that those batteries took off pretty quick. Other than a pair of Sliders and a few other minor mods the power wagon has been a great vehicle for everything from Highway torock crawling. The new dodges have a 6.4 liter engine, I don't notice it being much better than the old 5.9. The new transmission however has been better. I'm getting 13 miles per gallon average vs 10 in my old truck. The computer is a little more aggressive, I liked the old analog feel of my last truck. But I guess it's the way of the future, seems like they all have computers between the throttle and the rear tires.

I have worked in the oil field and Chevy and Dodge were wore out in @ 18 mo. The only older dodges you would see with any regularity were the older 12v cummins, but the die hard coolaid drinking fanbois of that cult would never sell their beloved 12VC. We ran Fords and beat on them. Hard. Stupid hard and as long as you followed the maintenance schedule you never had an issue.

Never really liked the seats in the Dodge and after about an hour driving I wanted to swerve in to on coming traffic to make the pain in my lower back go away. Raptor is going to have a much larger and proven aftermarket availability.

Pretty used to having to replace something brand new on trucks. Gen 1 Montero shocks lasted a few thousands miles tops.(maybe why the Gen 2 ones were so good) tires a few days tops. Nissan Titan and Xterra, batteries needed replaced before they dissolved the entire vehicle in the first few months, and tires good for less then 10K.

I agree though, I would kill a Chevy quick, and have no use for one and its 1980's styling. Never envisioned a Ram either, but Ford and Dodge are making products light years ahead of Toyota and Nissan...I can see where the sway bar disconnect would be so powerful. Other then a tube buggy I have no idea what you can do to get 36" of wheel travel, that is insane! :Wow1:

Been lurking around a lot, and while many things are interesting about the Power Wagon, there are some things its hard to get past. Sure, its got amazing off-road capability, however.....

1. Fuel Mileage is horrific, and the Raptor is likely to be significantly better.
2. Reliability. Following the PW forums for awhile EVERYTHING goes bad in the first 10K-100K and its expected you will be working on the truck regularly. I dont expect a modern vehicle to need work before 150K, and nothing major until the 300K or so mark. I try not to judge, but Ram seems to earn its reputation. Light duty trucks seem more reliable though.
3. Low numbers, as bad as Gen 3 Montero sales, which makes no sense.
4. Technology, overall Ford is light years ahead.
5. The PW is SLOWWWWW, its like driving a semi. I like going fast.
