good job!!! I have one question though. I know its a life experience etc. but all they got a was a trophy? I would of expected the winner to get something more than that.

If you get this before you come home, can you bring me back a large novelty foam finger from the event?

That would be awesome if they got to keep the vehicle!!

Perhaps to give away as a grand prize to the winner of this year's Expedition Trophy event?!?

Unfortunately, international challenge races are not money events at this point. In fact, it costs a ton of money to put on one these events, including promotional costs, support people if their time is not donated, and insurance. Insurance can be the big one. Off road racing is high risk from the perspective of an insurance company. Even in those races where there is a high entry fee, most of the money goes to insurance and overhead. If sponsors will donate goods to be awarded to finalists, there can be something in it, but the cost of a set of tires pales to the cost of preparing and entering a race in a foreign country. But cash? Not without a source.

I think Scott and Nathan did get something out of this. Ask them if this is not so. Not money, perhaps, or even a car or goods, but a lot more than a trophy. This is, as you say, a life experience. Priceless.

From Nathan via Scott's Blackberry:

The whole group convoyed back to camp where the final results were given. We were officially declared the winners and given a big ass trophy and a bottle of champagne.

... Scott and I have about 2500 pics to sort through on the boat, but well post a few when we get back to France.
