Pants...

The Deluth order came today.
I like the shirt, I am keeping it.

The shorts and pants are going back.
I am almost to the point where I am going to quit getting clothes via mail order.
The sizes are never correct.

It took me three attempts on those Gall 5.1 pants mentioned in this or another clothing thread, and these pants and shorts I got today I would have to gain about thirty pounds to fit into them.
The quality is not what I thought they would be either.
A little disappointed.

Anything else you prefer or know is better with the Alpine vs. Original?
Alpine is heavier... like a double knee, etc and the side pocket for phones, or foons too... The original is just a heavy duty khaki that, in my opinion, wears into the finest pants I have ever owned... they just keep getting better and more comfortable, not to mention tough as nails.

Kuhl

I've been testing their Kuhl Jean for about a year now, they don't have a big line of clothing just a market niche. They are a lightweight pant so they are probably best for southern climates and summer time. They're cut generous in the thigh and leg so it's easy getting into and out of tall rigs, I really like them when you have hours of seat time ahead of you...a lot of freedom of movement!

They're a little pricey and not bombproof like Mountain Khakis so I haven't used them in the brush or sharp rocks when out hiking. They can't be thrown into the dryer due to an internal lining/coating but dry quickly when thrown over the tailgate.

ExPo Pants

I can't believe I've spent this much time in the ExPo Pants thread and the ExPo Wallett thread before this, But.....

No one has mentioned Bill's Khaki's. Neither me nor anyone I know own a pair, too pricey for me, but I've heard good things about them.

Anyone have any experience using them?

I have a pair of Bill's normal Khaki's that I love -- super high quality and actually made in the USA. When I first found this thread I went over to Bill's site and I'm very intrigued by the Bullard Field Pant, just haven't had a chance to check them out in person yet.

The ever elusive "Made in USA" was one of the most intriguing things to me of Bill's Khaki's. SO rare in clothes today.

I recently bought a few new suits, and found out that Men's Warehouse doesn't even sell suits made in Italy anymore, they are all from China or Mexico. The salesman said it's over 80% of all clothing is made in China now. Sad.

I saw the Bullard Field Pant or whatever they're called. Looked interesting, but still have a hard time justifying the price w/o some honest input that I trust. I live by the "Buy the Best, Cry Once" mantra, but need some external input on some things.

I have some (quite a bit) Columbia stuff that I like a lot, but it's made in all sorts of places. Their sizing really seems to vary too.

I used to sell Bill's khakis at a shop I worked at. They were sweet pants and I wish I would have bought a pair (rover addiction sucked the funds) but I would not be wearing them outdoors.

Yeah, I've been surprised at the lack of mention til now, too.

I've had a pair of the Bill's Original Twills for about 5 years now. Very rugged, great lines. I do wear them occasionally camping and off-roading. They've held up well -- my only other pair of pants I like as well are some older NF A5 pants, but they're getting fairly ripped and natty.

I haven't been buying pants much lately, but the next pair will be Bill's again. They've held up well, and look great. Being a thicker material, though, unless you hang them up straight out of the dryer (or to do the drying) then they will get very wrinkled to the point that the wrinkles won't just drop out with time hanging in your closet. For casual wear I'll wear them with some wrinkles. After ironing you can dress them up well. Versatile, in other words.

Relatively expensive? Perhaps. It's a purchase I put in to the category of 'a quality product that deserves my hard-earned dollars and will last for an acceptably lengthy time.'

YMMV
