Alright. It's done.

I hate spending money. Mostly because of the pain-in-the- that I am when I'm doing it.

Radio: FT-7800R + YSK-7800
Antenna: SBB-5NMO
Mag mount: NMO-MMR

$331 with shipping.

Thanks, guys, for all your advice and patience!

Congrats! If you are going to be getting the software and hardware to program it (more $$ but would highly recommend), let me know. I'll send you my excel spreadsheet that is set up for the Tucson area but has all the open repeaters in Arizona as well. It also has some fire, weather, police, etc. scanner frequencies.

Again, if you do, don't buy the software the Yaesu recommends. Use this.

Thanks, Gary.

I'm looking at options w.r.t. programming the radio. I use Linux and OS X, so neither of those options are...options for me.

My searches indicate I may be writing my own software. :( Maybe this'll be the impetus to finally get Java under my belt.

I don't know where you are in Tucson, but if you want to hook up sometime, I can bring my laptop and do a quick program of your radio. It would be with my configeration, but you could make manual changes.

It would at least get you a place to start. Let me know.
