Passed my test!

I had to share because as with anything in life I set this thing in motion three months ago but did not know what was going to happen due to work commitments. In fact I was not sure I could even attend all the courses. Last night I wrote my Basic exam and passed my test!:wings:

Four of us from the local off road group decided to take the course offered via or local Amateur Radio Club: Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club.

The course included:
1-Study material (slides and handouts) and question bank
2-RAC study guide
3-One year membership with the club
4-Exam

All for $75. Excellent deal and the instructors were very helpful.

Now on to installing the new Yaesu FT-7800

Licenced to speak!

Thanks for the compliments gents. I'm glad it's over/just starting depending on how you look at it I guess. Things are pretty crazy right now.

And your call sign is KE7RTW?

Does RTW stand for Round The World? :)

LOL, close. I did choose a cool one (I think anyhow) but I'll have to wait for the license to show up to know for sure. In New Brunswick they all start with VE9xxx.
Cheers,
P

I need to get of my, well you know what, and study for the exam.

I'd love to get this done and a radio in by this summer.

Tony,
I'm not sure how the US test compares to the Canadian one, but your best bet is to do some on-line studying and exams to start things off. Then find a local club and see if they have a class that you can take. For me the organized classes forced me to take the time to study and attend thus improved my chances of passing.
Good luck.

It's official now: VE9..."MAP"!

All four of us that took the class and wrote the test have passed! Now, on to the radio installs. Three of the four have purchased the Yaesu FT-7800 radios and it looks like the last guy will purchase the same one.

Cheers,
