Congrats!

I'm pretty sure you can get into the Prescott node from south of William's - I've heard it ID from up there. I'll be opening up the node on the 20th about 6:55 PM for the next net.

I believe Ed's using a Yaesu FT-8800 vs. a 7800 in the LC.

Congratulations!! I hope to hear you on the next net. I just installed a Yaesu Ft-857D in my truck. Now for HF antennas.

Nice, I just passed my test today and need to start searching for equipment now. . .

That's a hijack but a good one, Dylan. Congrats Dylan and Andrew.

The ham radio has been such a great addition to the trucks, I can't imagine going back to CB.

True incidents--2 weeks ago we were in the Maze, and were talking on Simplex to some of the Rising Sun guys/girls on Gold Bar Rim north of Moab. That's at least 50 or more miles direct and over 250 by road. That's with 2 intervening rivers and a massive canyon system. Even more significant-they were on hand helds with 1 watt of radiated power.

Later that same week, I was in Blanding Ut, and talking to friends out on Golden Spike. That's close to 60 miles.

All on simplex.

Passed the Technician test tonight!
Congrats! Give me a holler if you need help installing the Yaesu 7800. That's the unit I put in my truck. It's definitely a great unit. Now I just need to find someone that can help me to tune the antenna.

I have an SWR meter for ham radios, anytime you need it.

Hmmmmm, that reminds me. Any of the SD hams have an SWR meter yet? I'll get one if nobody already has a unit.

A coworker of mine has an SWR meter, but he hasn't ever tuned a dual band antenna with a central coil. If it doesn't work, I might take you up on your offer. Thanks!
