There is some debate on the inter-web about whether the "ML" will be 1 ("Compatriot") or 2 (Compass and Patriot) but either way, it's looking like a 2018 model at best. The timing is unfortunate as it will be overshadowed by the JL release. The key thing to me is that Jeep has to keep the KL relevant and that will limit several aspects and capabilities. And for me, the big question is, how much are Jeep willing to make the Renegade irrelevant?
Right now, the Compatriot is proving there's room between the Renegade and Cherokee, and that the traditional 2-box candy-bar styling is favored over the jellybean styling. The differences between the KL, BU, and MK are more age and styling, than anything else. What's going to happen when those differences are minimized? There are some photos of a stretched Renegade test-mule that are more attractive to me than either of the current MK or BU vehicles. Although, admittedly, my tastes tend to be more eclectic than most.
