I am a long time lurker but have not yet owned an expedition vehicle. I have horrible OCD and as soon as I make a decision I recount it and begin debating again. I'm hoping that you guys can help me decide a few things. I am going to live out of this vehicle for 2 yrs +

A few requirements:
Legal seating for 3
Some kind of interior living space
Equivalent of a single bed
Portapotty
Microgalley

The builds I'm considering:
Ford cargo van w/ ujoint offroad conversion
Ford Excursion
Toyota Tacoma w/ ARE tall shell or FWC pop-up

Will be staying in the US, just choosing to live full time in the vehicle. I'd like to keep the build under 15k at first-- even if I have to save up over time for certain non-essential upgrades. I won't be doing hardcore wheeling but 4x4 is definitely a must.

I've read that the FWC units aren't a viable option for water crossing as they bottoms are not sealed, is this true?
I know a RWB ford van would be a great option, but I'd love to have 4x4 from the beginning- seeing as the ujoint conversions may put me out of my price range..
It'd be neat to have a ford 7.3 or cummins 5.9 but neither are a must

Thanks for the reply, if there are any threads similar to this one please point me in the right direction >.<
