Pop up canopy or topper?

Hey guys I'm new here, and I am was curious if anyone has ever done a pop up conversion on a truck topper?

There is a company out there that builds them but they are kind of pricey (topperezlift). I was thinking a guy could use a camper style manual pop-up (like a sportsmobile) and build your own fabric sides and it would work just fine. Then the truck would also look stock rolling down the road. I'm sure I'm missing a few things. Here are a few pics of what I am thinking of building. Let me know what you think.
