PreRunner lockers vs. 4x4

I'm running a locking rear in my Toyota, it does great 99% of the time and I don't use or need 4wd, but when I need the front axle pulling me out of the mud I'm glad I have it.

it all depends where you want to go, i live in southern california, I have a prerunner, its built for carrying camping gear on forest roads and deserts. I am sure there are places I can't go, but do i really want to? its my daily driver, I get decent mileage. I have done mojave road, most of idylwild, and some mountains on the central coast. The locker is great, i installed it myself. Good driving, and good tires will make a huge difference. With all that said, I want to convert it to a 4x4 haha
