Interesting Writeup

He is doing a variation of what Chris Gibson recommends here: http://www.smartgauge.co.uk/alt_how.html

I did not do this on my truck as the under hood runs are short and direct. Might be worth it in the long run, will just have to see. I do like his use of shrink wrap on his terminals.

I will defer to others about the trade off in losses of converting 12v to 110v, running it back, and converting back to 12v. My instinct tells me to simply go with a larger cable, but I don't know enough to comment.

Thanks Diplostrat! That link was very informative. I'm leaning toward an inverter near the battery and running AC because i will have such à long run to the trailer. I need to do more research though on this.

wrcsixeight is much more up to speed on that technique than am I. (I had enough fun getting the power to the back of my truck!)

I am, however, happy to report that my truck works very well; hasn't been plugged in for months.
