Project Steel Walrus

Bolted on the hood and grill tonight. I took the brushed aluminum grill that was weathered and pitted and had it media blasted with pumice. I liked the matte patina so much that I kept it. I used a spray on clear coat to protect the metal. I am very happy with the look.

Love the paint scheme! What paint brand and specific colors did you use? Boomer needs a paint job in a serious way and I like what you've done for a scheme....

That looks great! It is coming together very nicely. I can't wait to see it put back together.

Not really something I can take a picture of, but I got the walrus running for the first time in 5 plus months. This is the hard part to believe THERE WERE NO LEAKS. I have a buddy coming over to bleed the brakes with me tonight and it is movable.

IMPRESSIVE!! So when can I drop off my 65 for some work LOL.. That old rig is getting a new life, great job

The flatbed that I am going to use on the walrus was one I built 2 years ago for another truck that I had. It was missing a few things. I needed a slick place to put the air valves and the gas filler, so I fabbed up a mount on the flat bed.

Man I wish I had pics of "Frankentruck"... In the years before dig-cams I bought a 77 F250 that a guy had welded a second cab, back to back to the "front" cab. He then built a frame/rack contraption that allowed him to ride snowmobiles up the back, park two of them on the roof and then drive them down over the hood on a fold away ramp to unload. An "interesting" concept to say the least!!!! I fired up the crane (dosen't everyone have one???), and cutting torch and filled a scrap steel bin. In the end I turned it back into a great somewhat stock looking hi-boy.

I am loving the way your build is going. It looks awesome! Can't believe the speed! Keep it going!:sombrero:

I put the essentials of the truck together to go and pick up the new camper. This camper is cherry, it has a bathroom and everything. Expo in style baby! Lots more to do, but this is a big step in the right direction. The initial camping trip is scheduled for the weekend of the 15th and 16th.

I do plan to build some boxes that fit in the empty sides of the camper for chairs and stuff. .............. And yes of course I know I am missing doors. They are coming soon.
