I am seriously considering solar for my truck..

Looking for opinions on this system:

Sunforce 50048 60-Watt Solar Charging Kit
Weatherproof, durable solar panels can withstand impacts from hailstones traveling 50 miles-per-hour

$269.96 :Wow1:

Product Dimensions: 54 x 12 x 42.2" ; 59.6 pounds
My Roof rack: 54x45" (Almost like it was made for it.)

Hoping it will keep a fridge (ARB) going and maybe keep my battery topped off when sitting for days at a time. My one concern is the vibration from driving offroad....

Any thought would be appreciated. :snorkel:

Considering hard mounting it on top of my roof rack:

I can even maneuver the truck to get optimal sunlight :bike_rider:

I've seen that same system at Costco on numerous occasions. I bet now that nicer weather is coming, they will be carrying it again.

The products they carry change with the season.

Well I pulled the trigger... Need a new project anyways :)

Now will this be enough to power my new winch? Hahah :coffeedrink:

Careful with that kit. This maybe the same one that was sold at Harbor Freight. If so, you get what you pay for... Lets put it that way. Secondly, why 3 panels when you can get one that is 60 watts? Seems odd. Make sure you research it well before buying.

On the silly iPad and didnt notice you already bought it, let us know how it works and what it delivers for power.

Will do! Looks like at least two other people on ExPo use they setup and the reviews are decent. Don't mind getting the cheaper units because if they get stolen/damaged it wont be too much to replace. I have always worried about getting stranded by a low battery but I think this should help.

Don't like bolting anything too expensive to the outside of my vehicle.. I live too close to TJ.. :costumed-smiley-007

P.S. Nearly every dang off-road vehicle I see now has a Trasharoo on it! Glad to see it is selling well.

Right on Derek, yeah i hear you on the DD aspect and having expensive panels bolted to your truck. Might make it a TJ magnet.

Thanks for the kind words on the Trasharoo sightings. Yeah, that was our goal. Now it's time to debut some new products :D

Let us know how those panels work, i'd like to hear and see them mounted.

Pffft. You live in RB. Nobody there but old people taking care of their parents! ;) Actually, I'm surprised I haven't seen your truck around.

Seriously though, I don't think the panels on the rack would be the part of your truck that would attract the attention of thieves.

And I did notice a similar system while in the Poway Costco today. I've been tempted by it, but I think I'd want to be able to set it up away from the truck so I can park in the shade and keep the solar in the sun.

The weight on that package is very unappealing at 60lb and the pricing isn't that great either. You can get a 60 watt panel for $160 that has a smaller foot print and only weighs 15lb. Something to consider if you haven't opened it up yet...
