Question about ARB Fridge

Hey guys... so I have a 50 QT ARB fridge for many years now, (I love this thing). But the basket inside is rusting and staining the inside of the fridge. So I tried spray painting the bottom of the basket and (OK dumb move)... anyhow now I can't get the smell to go away from the basket.

My question is , other than buying a new basket what is a way to solve this? Is there a rubbery type of paint that doesn't smell you know of? Thanks dudes!
