Question: Cooking with cast iron

In the Expedition Portal article about the OR Winter market they highlighted Barebones that sells a cast iron line. Anyone have any experience with their products?

At $180 for one skillet and lid, I'm afraid my experience with Barebones Living will be limited to the 10 seconds I spent viewing their website.

Really like that stargazer pan and for the quality, not too expensive. Is the Japanese version polished or rough?

Anyone use buzzywax? A friends wife uses it (she restores really abused cast iron for a hobby).

My god people get a lodge pan for 30 bucks and use it. Why on earth would you spend that on cast iron. Go to a second hand store pick one up and spend some time sanding by hand or with a grinder and learn how to season a pan properly. 3o bucks at most is all you should be spending.

I frequent many 2nd hand stores and Craigslist, always looking for cast iron. Cast iron in any condition is pretty rare. People know what they have and tend to hold on to it.
