Pam and I went to Moab for the holiday weekend. Didn't do any real wheeling but checked out some scenery.

We tried starting out on Fins, but being by ourselves and not aired down or anything it wasn't going too well, but we did see these guys off in the distance

So we decided to drive out Sand Flats Rd with the intentions of going up through Castle Valley

The area definitely looked a lot different with snow

The road to Castle Valley was closed after this overlook though, so we turned around and went back to Moab via a more southern route

Sunday we wanted to check out the Needles Overlook as well as the Anticline Overlook.

We stopped first at Jail House Rock

The road was a little muddy with some snow here and there, but not too bad

It was a good trip and was nice to get to see some new stuff in Moab. The weather wasn't too bad Saturday. Low 40's. Sunday was a bit chillier and the wind had kicked up a bit. It looked like there were a few wheelers in town, but overall the place was dead. Southern facing areas were pretty dry, but the north faces were mostly snow covered making wheeling a bit tricky.

Did you stay at the Super8? I thought I saw your vehicle there when I stopped in town for gas yesterday morning.

Very nice to see pics of the area with snow...as much as I don't like the cold it makes me want to go up there just for the solitude.
thanks for the report

Great photos! Thanks for sharing.

Question: What setup are you running on that ZJ? I'd love to build a slightly larger than stock ZJ similar to yours one day.

Thanks
Mike

Nice quick report Bigdave, of Moab. :) If you ever need someone to go with, just ring my bell, I would of went. My wife and I plan on being in Moab the last 3 days of the EJS and into the following week to avoid the crowds in my Dodge.

That's our little ZJ, RE 3.5" coils, RE adjustable LCA's, KOR front trackbar, JKS rear trackbar, Aussie in the 44A, 265/75R16 BFG AT/KO's, and KOR Rock Sliderz. I used to run a similar setup on my ZJ (the black one is my wife's) and run the same suspension on my dad's ZJ too. It seems to work pretty well. I don't really care for the short arms at that height, but it's not bad enough really to warrant long arms like I have on my ZJ.

It really does make me wish I had a ZJ. I have an XJ because I hated the ZJ's when I was in the market. Then I started seeing some nice ones! and realized I wish I had gone that way. Oh well, live and learn. Also- I have RE 3.5 coils in my XJ and I gotta say they not only sit a little taller than that, but they have been on over a year and still haven't sagged any.
